We are delighted to announce the signing of Akili Evans for the 2026/27 season! 🇺🇸

The 6'5" guard/forward arrives in Malta following an outstanding season with Lenoir-Rhyne University in the NCAA, where he was named South Atlantic Conference Newcomer of the Year and earned All-Conference Second Team honours — averaging 13.9 points per game on 53% shooting and even landing on SportsCenter's Top Ten with a highlight dunk. 💥

A Connecticut native, Akili brings NCAA Division I experience from Austin Peay State University and Sacramento State, and everything you want on both ends of the floor — scoring, playmaking, athleticism, and a 6'9" wingspan that makes him a serious problem on defence.

Athleta Basketball Club is delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Mayfield for the 2026/27 season!

The 6'8" forward joins us from Mississippi Valley State University, where he spent last season in the SWAC — one of the toughest conferences in NCAA Division I basketball.

A relentless presence in the paint, Daniel led the Delta Devils in both rebounding and blocked shots, averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 rebounds per game across 28 starts. In conference play, he stepped it up further, putting up 14 points and 6 rebounds a night while shooting 45% from the field.

He also earned a place on the Rainbow Classic All-Tournament Team in Honolulu, where he averaged 23.5 points and 8.5 rebounds across two games. 🏆

Last season took him into arenas against Texas A&M, Kansas State, Oklahoma, West Virginia and Florida State — so he arrives in Malta having tested himself at the very top level of American college basketball.

Rebounds, rim protection and a genuine physical edge. We can't wait to see him in our colours. 👊

We’re delighted to welcome Michela to the club for the upcoming season!

Michela has been playing basketball since the age of 10, with experience at both Luxol and Hibernians. She has also proudly represented Malta at U16, U18 and U20 level, gaining valuable international experience along the way. 🇲🇹

Her achievements include an U18 Division C gold medal and an U16 Division C bronze medal, alongside several domestic titles throughout her teenage years. 🥇

Competitive, determined and always eager to improve, Michela will be joining our Senior and Under-23 teams this season. We’re excited to see her continue developing, take on new challenges and make her mark with us. 💪🏀

Balancing basketball with her law studies is no easy task, but her commitment and drive are clear to see.

We are delighted to welcome Keira Fenech Ishmael to our club! 💪❤️

A new chapter begins for Keira, who will be joining our Senior and Under-23 teams this season. We’re excited to have her as part of the family and can’t wait to see what she brings to the court!

Keira’s basketball journey began at the age of 10. She developed her game with Hibernians Basketball Club until the age of 16, before continuing her journey with Depiro Basketball Club, where she competed and continued to grow as a player until the age of 21.

Throughout her journey, basketball has taught Keira the value of trust, teamwork, selflessness, commitment, and always having your teammates’ backs — qualities that make a player not only better on the court, but also an important part of a team.

Now, she is ready for her next challenge! 🔥

Maya brings with her an impressive basketball journey, having previously played for Hibernians, represented the Malta national team, and enjoyed three amazing years playing abroad in Catania , Forli and Priolo gaining valuable experience both on and off the court.

After taking some time to focus on her son, Maya is now ready to return to the game she loves — and we’re so excited to have her back on the court and part of our team! ❤️

Maya is bringing back her love for the game, a strong team-first mentality, and a fierce determination to give her best. She’s ready to embrace the challenge, grow with the team, and contribute wherever she’s needed. MEET ALEXA PISANI — OUR IN HOUSE PLAYER! 🏀

At just 16 years old, Alexa Pisani is taking the next big step in her basketball journey as she joins the Senior Team for her first season! 💪🔥

Basketball has been a huge part of Alexa’s life for the past 10 years. What started as a hobby has grown into a genuine passion and something she has worked incredibly hard to develop. Throughout her journey, basketball has taught Alexa discipline, commitment, teamwork and, most importantly, the importance of always pushing herself to become better.

As a point guard, Alexa loves being at the heart of the action. Her position allows her to create opportunities for her teammates, make important decisions on the court and take on a leadership role. These experiences have helped her grow not only as a player, but also as a person.

And Alexa’s contribution to basketball doesn’t stop with playing. 🏀❤️

More recently, she took on the role of an Under-8s coach, sharing her knowledge and love for the game with the younger generation. Helping young players discover their own passion for basketball is something truly special, and it is a wonderful reflection of the person and player Alexa is becoming.

Now, at only 16, she is ready to take on the challenge of senior basketball.

It’s a big step. It’s a new chapter. And it’s one that she has absolutely earned. 👏

We are incredibly proud of Alexa and everything she has achieved so far. Her dedication, passion and willingness to learn make her a fantastic addition to the Senior Team.

🔴⚪ NEW SIGNING — Matthew Sammut

Athleta Basketball Club is pleased to announce the signing of Matthew Sammut ahead of the 2026/27 winter season.

The 187cm centre joins from Depiro BC and arrives with real international mileage for a 17-year-old — three Malta youth national team campaigns, including this summer's FIBA U18 EuroBasket Division C, where he averaged 7.6 rebounds per game.

His breakout came at U16 Division C in 2024: 10 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2 blocks per game for Malta, topped by a 15-point, 13-rebound, 4-block outing against Gibraltar.

He's a rebounder and a rim protector, and he adds size to a young core we're building for the seasons ahead. New club, new journey.

Julia will continue with Athleta for the 2026/27 season after an impressive first year with the team.

Her return to basketball came after becoming a mother, and she describes the step back onto the court as a special one — made more meaningful by the group around her. 🏀

Reflecting on last season, Julia spoke about the memories, friendships and challenges shared with her teammates, and says she is looking forward to what the new season brings. 💪

🏀 A point guard with five Malta youth campaigns behind him, Sebastian Pace has represented his country at both U16 and U18 level in the FIBA European Championship Division C.

🇲🇹 His most recent came at the 2025 U18 EuroBasket in Tirana, where he was one of Malta's standout performers — averaging 15.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game, highlighted by a 33-point display against Moldova and 25 against Albania.

💙 Sebastian joins Athleta this season from Starlites Naxxar, bringing that experience, energy and playmaking to the team.
