More tanks, more gases, more workload… the fundamentals never change!
It’s all about trim, buoyancy, control and awareness!

Great couple of days with Tomasz Gancarczyk!
We started off with a single stage and progressively turned up the workload, adding more complexity while keeping those fundamentals firmly in place.
Hard work, plenty of repetition, sore fingers but ultimately, a seriously impressive progression!

Great work dude!

A huge welcome back to Tomasz Gancarczyk, who’s here to take his Sidemount skills to the next level… this time, with multiple tanks!

It’s not his first time here training with us, so he already knew it wasn’t gonna be a walk in the park… but that’s exactly what he signed up for. 😎

We start off with just a single stage and work through a series of stage management drills… and to make things easier, we do it whilst hanging on the line - because apparently, managing a stage isn’t challenging enough on its own! 😂

Great to see Asia and Przemek Bułat , who are back on the island for some proper tech diving… and this time, they’re both in Sidemount! 🤙

Having recently completed his Sidemount course back in Poland, Przemek is kicking things off with a technical workshop, aimed at polishing his stage handling skills - and to make things a little more interesting… we put him straight on the line! 😜

He says his muscles are aching, his fingers are sore - all in all, a successful session indeed! 🤙🤣🤙

Laura Müller has been listening to me going on about how awesome Sidemount is for ages now… and today, she finally got to experience it for herself!

Expectations were high, to say the least, so no pressure on me whatsoever! 🤣🤣🤣

But this is what she had to say afterwards:

“Today, I fell in love with diving all over again… That feeling of freedom, the moment your head goes quiet and you’re completely mindful and centred.”

And then she added:

“I’m not diving BM ever again!”

I think she liked it! It was quite GUT! 😜🤙😂

A huge congrats to Lars Bogaert on completing his Sidemount course… with a bang!!! 💥

With only 30 dives under his belt prior to joining the course, Lars was jokingly referred to by some of my friends here as the “baby diver”… but what a diver he turned out to be!

No ego… No bad habits… No attitude… Just a genuine desire to learn and become a better diver all round.
What an absolute gent!

Halfway through Lars’ Sidemount journey and the progress is seriously impressive!

We’ve spent a great deal of time building solid foundations, refining buoyancy, propulsion and trim but most importantly developing control and awareness that proper Sidemount demands!

Great attitude and plenty of hard work… exactly the stuff we like to see!

Still a few days to go, and plenty more to refine… but transformation is happening already! 🤙

A huge welcome to Lars, who’s here to discover and master the beauty of Sidemount.

Lars is still at the very beginning of his diving journey, but his long term goals are clear - wrecks, possibly caves, and sidemount as his primary configuration of choice.

With just 30 dives under his belt, some might say he needs more diving experience first…
Quite the opposite actually… It’s great to work with a foundation that’s still raw, with no bad habits to “unteach” first! 😜

Today was his first in-water session after a long dry day, and it’s pretty safe to say he’s doing rather awesome!

Can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings!

Two hours of pure joy! Well… for me at least! 😜

The line has a way of exposing every tiny movement, demanding awareness, and complete control. There’s nowhere to hide but that’s exactly why it’s such a powerful training tool.

A huge welcome to Sylvain, who’s travelled from sunny France for a series of workshops aimed at sharpening his core sidemount skills and refining propulsion techniques.

After a few hours optimising his brand new Tecline Avenger - Maya Edition, we hit the water.

Our first full skills circuit behind us and it’s fair to say Sylvain had an absolute blast… I know I did too! 😜
