Following Mellieha Sports Club's dramatic 4–3 victory over Kalkara United in BOV National League 1, we caught up with Jordan Vella to reflect on the comeback, the team’s response and what they need to build on moving forward. ⚽

💬 On the squad and preparations:
“We worked well throughout pre-season and we have a good squad.”

💬 On what the team needs to improve:
“After today’s game, we need to roll up our sleeves, work on reducing the mistakes we made and become more united than ever so that we can achieve the objectives that this team and Mellieħa Sports Club deserve.”

💬 On the character shown in the comeback:
“One of the biggest positives was our reaction. Despite going 2–0 down, we fought back to make it 2–2. We then fell behind again, but still managed to turn things around and win the game despite being a player down.”

A remarkable comeback from Mellieħa, with Vella highlighting the character shown to overturn the deficit and take all three points despite finishing with ten men. 💪

A special reunion at Mellieħa Sports Club, bringing together former players and committee members to reconnect, share stories and remember some great times in our Club’s history.

Made even more special by the visit of Attila Szonye and Nefail Zhejani, two familiar faces who brought back so many memories.

Years may pass, but the friendships, the stories and the love for these colours remain. 💙

Following the cancellation of Mellieha Sports Club’s opening BOV National League 1 fixture against Mtarfa, we caught up with James Magro to reflect on the team’s preparations and how the squad moves forward. ⚽

💬 On pre-season and preparations:
“Pre-season has been really positive. We’ve worked hard as a group, both physically and tactically, and everyone was looking forward to getting the season started and putting all that work into a competitive game.”

💬 On not being able to play the opening game:
“Of course, it was disappointing not to be able to play yesterday, especially after all the preparation and excitement surrounding the opening game. However, there’s not much we can do about it now. The important thing is that we stay focused and continue to maintain high standards.”

💬 On the weeks ahead:
“We’ll use the extra time to keep working hard in training, continue building our fitness and sharpness, and make sure we’re ready for next week’s game.

The whole group is motivated, and we’re looking forward to finally getting out there and competing.”

Mellieħa now turn their attention to their next fixture, with Magro stressing the importance of staying focused and maintaining their standards. 💪

🔵⚪️ A Reunion of Former Mellieħa SC Players

Former Mellieħa SC players Attila Szonye and Nefail Zhejani will be back at Mellieħa Sports Club on Sunday 27th September.

As a former Mellieħa SC player, coach or committee member yourself, we would love it if you can join us from 10:30am onwards for an informal get-together with former teammates and friends or even shared the pitch with Attila and Nefail.

A great opportunity to meet again, catch up and share some memories and stories from those special days wearing the Mellieħa shirt. 💙⚽

We hope to see as many familiar faces as possible!

Today’s match against Mtarfa will not be played, as our opponents did not present themselves for the fixture.

As always, we were ready to represent our Club with honour and pride. 🔵⚪️
