These programs focus on high-level technical skills, international racing preparation, and expert coaching.

Designed for national federation-nominated youth and junior athletes these camps provide elite-level multi-day training, educational sessions, and international networking.

Kai Azzopardi has become the first Maltese Elite triathlete ever to step onto the podium at a World Triathlon Development Regional Cup, claiming an outstanding bronze medal at the 2026 World Triathlon Development Regional Cup in Vlasina Lake, Serbia.

Competing against a strong international elite field, Kai delivered a composed and exceptional performance from start to finish, earning a well-deserved place on the podium and writing a new chapter in Maltese triathlon history.

Malta Youth Triathletes Gain Valuable International Experience at Europe Triathlon Development Camp

Four athletes from the Malta Triathlon Federation's Youth Development Squad – Katie-Anne Vella Wood, Zia Fujii, Liam Daly and Aiden Muscat – recently represented Malta at the 2026 Willebroek Europe Triathlon – World Triathlon Youth Development Camp in Belgium. They were accompanied by World Triathlon Level 1 Coach Michael Hughes.

The camp brought together promising young triathletes from across Europe, providing a unique opportunity to develop their technical skills, enhance their knowledge of the sport, and train alongside some of the continent's most talented young athletes.

The initiative forms part of Europe Triathlon and World Triathlon's commitment to nurturing the next generation of elite triathletes.
Over recent years, a growing number of young Maltese triathletes have benefited from participation in these development camps. Beyond the high-quality coaching and training environment, the camps enable athletes to build lasting friendships, exchange experiences, and strengthen connections with fellow triathletes from across Europe. These opportunities have been made possible through the strong and positive relationships the Malta Triathlon Federation has cultivated with the sport's international governing bodies.

The Malta Triathlon Federation extends its sincere appreciation to the Maltese Olympic Committee and Europe Triathlon for their continued support, which enabled the Maltese contingent to participate in this valuable development opportunity.
