It has been more than three months since Super Typhoon Sinlaku hit us, and we are still one of the thousands of customers without power.

I call CUC almost every day. All they need to do is reconnect our drop lines, but we are still waiting.

More than 35 dive companies depend on us for air fills, hydrotesting, and other tank services. We are running on a generator, but it is expensive and not very efficient.

What weighs on me the most are the people whose oxygen cylinders need to be hydrotested before they can be safely refilled. Many patients depend on oxygen every day because of serious medical conditions. Delays in getting their cylinders tested and back into service can create added stress and uncertainty for them and their families. These are not just tanks—they are essential equipment that people rely on to breathe.

This delay is affecting not just our business, but an entire community that depends on these services. We sincerely hope CUC can connect our power soon so we can get back to serving everyone who relies on us.

After Typhoon Sinlaku, our island has come together in an incredible way—helping those in need, clearing roads, and rebuilding what was lost. We’re truly grateful for the strength and compassion of our community.

But while we focus on what we can see, let’s not forget what lies beneath the surface.

Our ocean has also been impacted, with debris scattered across our dive sites and reefs. These ecosystems need our help too.

Green Flash Dive is stepping up by donating free tanks to local dive associations across the island to support underwater cleanups at dive sites. It’s a powerful reminder that recovery includes both land and sea.

Green Flash Dive compressor is back in service. We can now offer full refill and rental services. Its time for everyone to get back in the water.

Green Flash is open for business. Our post-Sinlaku hours are 7 am to 4 pm. We have plenty of tanks available for rent. Refills are in hold until we can clear some of the construction out of the compressor area. We hope to offer refills later this week. For more info call 670-287-3243

All scuba cylinders must undergo hydrostatic testing every 5 years to ensure the tank can safely handle high pressure. In addition, cylinders should receive a visual inspection every year to check for corrosion, cracks, or other damage that could compromise safety.

These inspections help keep divers safe by ensuring the cylinder remains structurally sound and reliable underwater. Regular testing isn’t optional—it’s a critical part of responsible diving

A proper Scubapro regulator overhaul is much more than just replacing a few O-rings. During service, every component is fully disassembled, deeply cleaned, inspected, and tested to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications. We carefully examine each part for wear, corrosion, or damage, and replace critical service components to restore optimal performance.

Scuba cylinders need regular hydrostatic testing to make sure they’re safe to use underwater. During a hydrotest, the tank is filled with water and pressurized beyond its normal working pressure to check for leaks, cracks, or permanent expansion. In most countries, this test is required every 5 years, with a visual inspection done annually. Hydrotesting helps ensure your cylinder can handle pressure safely—protecting both divers and dive shops. If your tank is out of date, it’s time to get it tested before your next dive!
