Running 4:55.54 for the 1500m in the United States of America to break the Northern Mariana Islands Record

Team Marianas Athletics conducted a Talent Identification session to spot promising young athletes for future development.

The initiative aims to identify emerging talent and strengthen the pathway for athletes representing the Marianas in future regional competitions.

Two New NMI National Records Set on Home Soil! 🇲🇵🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

Despite rainy and windy conditions at the Skechers Saipan Marathon 2026, history was made with two new NMI 5km National Records set on home soil for the first time.

Victor Nash Santos clocked 18:09, setting a new men’s 5km national record.
Tania Tan finished 2nd overall with a time of 18:31, establishing a new women’s 5km national record.

Both performances will be ratified by Northern Marianas Athletics as official road running records. The course meets the standards required for a World Athletics Ranking Competition.

Congratulations to both athletes for this outstanding achievement and for raising the level of road running in the Northern Mariana Islands. 👏🇲🇵

Northern Marianas Athletics is proud to announce that Simon Tang is heading to the World Athletics Indoor Championships Kujawy Pomorze 2026, taking place 20–22 March 2026 in Poland 🇵🇱

Simon will be making his championship debut in the 60m sprint, stepping onto the world stage to represent the Northern Mariana Islands with pride and determination.

This milestone reflects NMA’s continued commitment to building strong athlete pathways from grassroots development to elite international competition. Through sustained investment in youth programs, coaching, and competitive opportunities, we are creating clear pathways for our athletes to grow, compete, and succeed at the highest level.

Northern Marianas Athletics Record 🇲🇵

Tania Tan does it again! Running 5:19.18 to break her own Short Track Mile record at the Armory in New York City. The race is part of her preparations to be part of Team Northern Marianas Athletics at the Oceania Athletics Championships 2026 in Darwin 🐊

Tania now owns a national record in every distance race from the 1500m all the way to half-marathon!

From the Marianas to the world stage Tania Tan is starting her 2026 season strong as she begins her push toward the Road to Oceania Athletics Championships, Darwin 2026.

Switching from cross country to short track this season, she is stepping onto the track with island pride, chasing OAA qualifying standards in the 5000m and carrying the strength of home with every lap.

On February 12, 2026, after traveling more than 5,000 miles, Tania delivered a huge performance setting a new personal best of 5:19.18 at the NYRR Mile Race at the Armory Track.
