Building Bridges Through Interreligious Dialogue

When I attended the seminar of Eu Activisten on interreligious dialogue in Turkey, I expected a deep dive into history and theology. What I actually gained was a practical blueprint for transforming how my own community engages across faith lines. Turkey, with its living mosaic of Muslim, Christian, and Jewish traditions, proved to be a laboratory for coexistence—not just in theory, but in daily practice.

The biggest shift for me was moving from intellectual debate to shared action. This taught me that empathy flows more naturally when we are sweating or laughing together than when we are arguing theology.

I also learned the power of vulnerable storytelling over doctrinal explanation. This method creates emotional connection before intellectual understanding, making conversation safer and more human. Additionally, I saw how they institutionalize these encounters through regular, scheduled meetings that prevent isolation and build genuine friendships over time.

Now, back home, I implemented these methods immediately. I launched service-based gatherings where faith communities work first and talk later, start a storytelling project featuring local voices of different traditions, and shift our local dialogue from "tolerance" to true "partnership." It showed me that our differences don't have to divide us—they can become windows into a shared sky. I leave with not just hope, but a clear, actionable path forward.
