Season 1 of the Twingo Cup is a wrap! 🤝
After a crazy final Spaytona double header (Spa + Daytona Oval) the results are in: Adam Kaszonyi deservedly wins the inaugural season, followed by Lukas Krejci & Chris Davis. We don’t have any big cash prizes, but the Top 3 can look forward to some RauhRacing goodies!

As we said in the last post: Thank you everyone who participated, to our organizing, streaming, and race-directing crew, as well as everyone who tuned in.

What’s better than one Twingo? Twenty Twingos! 🐸

Season 1 of the Twingo Cup comes to a grand finale tomorrow, and what a season it’s been. Five races. Photo finishes. Last lap, last corner deciders. Entire fields split by less than a second. This was proper racing, at the level you’d expect from the big leagues, in a first gen Twingo.

Thank you to the drivers. You took this seriously from day one, put in the sweat and literal thousands of practice laps, and delivered five races that stand on their own. That’s why this series is what it is.

Thank you to our organizing, race director, and streaming team who worked night and day on it. Reviewing incidents, writing a rulebook from scratch, running the server, building the mod, and putting out on-screen graphics that official F1 coverage can only dream of.

And thank you to the viewers. Your donations, your comments, your subs. You showed up for every round!

FSAA - Day 6
You know we love green little underdog cars. Just this time it wasn’t the Twingo. It was the BEAR26 by Formula Student Team greenBEAR during Formula Student Alpe Adria.

Today it was time for the Endurance. The last event of the week and the biggest one on the board with 250 points. 22 km, two drivers, one mandatory driver change, and no work on the car allowed in between. Janek drove the first stint and brought it back clean. Felix went out for the second. Four laps in, the radiators for our water cooling failed, the inverter overheated and the car shut off. Once it stops, the event is over for you.

Disappointing, but it is also the only thing all week that did not go our way. We passed every scrutineering, did every static event, and every dynamic event until the endurance. Everything held, right up to the last thing.

Quick context if Formula Student is new to you: it is students designing and building their own race car from zero, next to their degree, then competing against other universities. It is not only lap times though: Roughly a third of the points come from standing in front of judges and defending the design, the cost of every single part, and the business plan. greenBEAR was founded in 2022 by a few students and it is now 60 people from 23 degree programmes, and this is their fourth car. No big budget, young team, small green car, sound familiar?

Meet the newest addition to the RauhRacing brothers: a 1997 Volvo V70R!

There was always going to be another Volvo in our lives. Dad raised us around them, from his 740 Turbo back in the late 90s to his 2nd Gen V70 that he still owns as the first owner. Bringing this V70R home just completes the circle.

The spec on this car is almost impossible to find. It is a FWD manual with the factory limited-slip differential. Based on production numbers and registry data, roughly 35 of this configuration remain in Germany, and with Coral Red making up just 5% of production, statistically this is the last surviving example in the country. 😳

Just looks so good on the 17 inch Satellite wheels, the predecessor to the famous Pegasus wheels of the 2nd gen R.

It’s a well-used car, far from a garage queen. 320,000 km on the odometer, original paint with scuffs and clear coat coming off in some places. It also wouldn’t be on brand for us if everything was going smoothly: Right now, it has major oil and turbo issues, likely caused by a head rebuild the dealer carried out as part of the deal. It is a warranty job that will take a few weeks to sort out.💅

The journey starts with some patience, but we will have this meatball running right very soon and let you indulge in the 5 cylinder glory from days long forgotten!
