Quadrathlon WC Final in Oslo: Check
Today's race was really nice. Perfect conditions in Sørkedalen with blue sky and 18C.
The race started good for me, although swimming is not my strongest discipline. It took me 23' to complete the 1700m which was 4'20" behind the lead out of the water. The bike stage was really fun! I loved it. Mainly, because I tried my new Merida Tri bike, the 48k just took me 1h16min (personal record so to say). I climbed some places and jumped as nr 4 into my kayak.
Well, on the third stage I again lost time and places to the best. A pace of 5'40/km is about 30-40'' too slow.
Finally, I could run. And I liked it. Best run split, good legs and good flow until the end. So finally I came on 4th spot. sweet.
Thanks to Katarina and her team for the perfect organization!

Results are here: http://quadrathlon.no/resultater-2/

Thoughts for improvement:
- check if the bike shoes fit into the new pedals before the race ;-)
- improve kayak technique
- get a faster boat
- there is a reason why triathletes use tri-suits
- swim more...

next up: Mountainbike Orienteering World Cup finals in two weeks

cheers,
Felix

New weekend -new race!
It took some days to recover from Nordic Adventure Race, but on thursday my body felt better again, so Erik Baardsgaard and I decided to start at Challenge 40 in Fetsund on Saturday. This 4h race was really fun. The 40 controls were spread all over the map, which made it difficult to find the best route. That's how it should be :-) We found a good strategy and moved fast all the way. So finally, after some swimming, canoe, climbing, orienteering and much cycling we made it back within the time limit. 3h 57min - good timing this time. It was fun to take part - and actually it was fun to win, too :-)

Nordic Adventure Race 2016 06/09/2016

More, really good pictures from NAR. Here you really see the great scenery we were racing in for 28 hours :-)

We made it :-)

It’s now been two days since we’ve crossed the finish line in Hamar and we’ve got some really good sleep.
Let’s look back and quickly sum up our first Nordic Adventure Race (NAR):
We faced the first challenge while we discussed our equipment and food logistics. Two hours late we arrived just in time to rush through the prologue before we delivered our Kayak at the drop off 16k north. The 5k run in Hamar was a great warm up to the race and since we were fastest we headed out in lead on Saturday’s first stage - inline skating.
Wolfgang promised a race report so I’ll keep it short, just a few words…
The course through the mountains was great, we loved it and it compensated easily for our reising exhaustion. The organisation was slim but very well planned with plenty of surprises along the way. Wolfgang got his specially prepared goodies at each TA, amazing.
We faced ups and downs through the 28hours, got stuck in marshes and lost in total some 15-20minutes because we didn’t find some paths various places during night orienteering. Anyway, we always kept a good flow and entertained each other. The highlight was CP7, a flight wrack in the middle of the Highlands. Toughest section was the never ending uphill from Lillehammer passed Nordseter just before sunrise. We made it :-) It definitely paid off to upgrade our mountain bikes (thanks to Merida!)
Padling the final 30k on Mjøsa on a sunny Sunday morning passed relatively fast while approaching the finish. As the only team completing the whole 273k course, we won the open class. Cool. My watch told me that I’ve burned 17.751 kcal, climbing 5245 meter.
Now, there is just the longest stage again: cleaning up :-) We’ll make it, too.
