The European Sub-Junior, Junior, Open, Masters & SOI Equipped & Classic Bench Press Championships 2026 may be over, but we still have more to share!

The final part is dedicated to the Open Equipped Men’s champions.

Three athletes – Jon Sigurdur Gunnarsson, Ivan Chuprynko and Kevin Jaeger – became European Champions as the leaders of their respective weight classes in the Final Nomination. Three more athletes, Mariusz Grotkowski, Mads Friche and Ralf Male, won the title after entering the competition in second place.
Carlo Schembari became European Champion after entering the competition in third place in the Final Nomination.

And Rasmus Mirblom went even further, claiming the European title despite not being ranked among the top five in the Final Nomination.

The results once again showed that the Final Nomination does not determine the outcome, everything can change on the platform.

Now, let’s take a look at the Open Classic Women’s champions.

All European Champions, with the exception of Micaela Olding and Johanna Laitinen, entered the competition as the leaders of their respective weight classes in the Final Nomination.

Micaela Olding and Johanna Laitinen were both ranked second in the Final Nomination — and both went on to claim the European title.

From defending champions to first-time winners, from record-setting streaks to golden doubles — another European Championship has produced a new chapter in powerlifting history.

We’ve collected some interesting facts about the Open division champions.

The first part is dedicated to the Open Classic Men’s Сhampions.

Only three athletes — Jaba Sepiashvili, Tsotne Bezhashvili and Hakan Reher — became European Champions as the leaders of the Final Nomination.

Three more athletes — Francesco Bosari, Libero Ciuffreda and Ivan Kryha — won the title after entering the competition in second place.

Romuald Masse won the European title from fourth place in the Final Nomination, while Josef Eriksson claimed gold from seventh place.

The competition showed once again that the Final Nomination is only part of the story — the title is decided on the platform.
