There’s this one truth they don’t tell you about fame. Fame is a mirror, not a spotlight.

When you first taste it, it feels like validation. But very quickly, that mirror starts reflecting everyone else’s expectations. Your art will stop belonging to you, it becomes a product for public consumption. Fans will love a version of you they’ve invented, and critics will destroy a version they’ve invented. The real you gets lost in the noise.

Fame treats you like a commodity. It amplifies everything, your highs feel euphoric, but your lows become public entertainment. It is deeply lonely because very few people will tell you “no” anymore. The friends who knew you before will feel distant; the new ones will want something. Fame as a whole doesn’t change who you are, it reveals who you are, and then magnifies it tenfold.

So, the best way to survive it is this.

1. Take note of your identity in the process, not the result. Fall in love with the daily grind of your life. It could be your school, trade, the small improvements, or your side hustle. Keep a routine that has nothing to do with music, Because fame is fleeting; a bad album or something small can erase everything. But your skill will remain with you forever.

2. Choose your inner circle ruthlessly. Surround yourself with people who would pick you up if you failed, not just ride your coattails if you win.

3. Remember your “Why.” Before the likes, streams, and deals, you created because you had to. That is your North Star. When fame tries to dictate your sound or image, that “why” will be your shield.

If for all you don’t have any other talent than music, stay obsessed with the art, not the attention. The art will outlive the fame. Stay grounded. Stay hungry. Stay you. Speaking from experience🙏
