Let the Sri Lankan monsoon rains wash away your inner noise⛈️🧘‍♂️

There is something deeply grounding about watching a downpour from our verandas and balconies at Villa de Zoysa.
The rhythmic fall of rain creates the ultimate natural white noise, wrapping the villa in a tranquil atmosphere perfect for deep breathwork, mindfulness, or simply sitting in stillness high above the gardens.

As the tropical storm washes over the lush greenery, take it as your sign to slow down, turn inward, and find your center.

The rainy season isn’t a time to stay away, it’s the best season to reconnect with yourself.

📍 Save this for your rainy-day escape, or send it to someone who needs a peaceful retreat.

Pausing for a quiet moment, we offered a flame and a prayer in devotion to Goddess Pattini, a meaningful tradition in Sri Lanka for seeking protection, health, and peace.

Lighting a candle felt so grounding, but the meaning behind it runs centuries deep. 💫

Long before she became known as Pattini Devi, she was Kannagi, a woman whose life became an extraordinary tale of unconditional love, heavy betrayal, and immense divine power.

Her journey began with profound forgiveness. When her husband lost their entire fortune and returned home filled with remorse, Kannagi welcomed him back with open arms. To help rebuild their lives together, she gave him her most valuable possession: a pair of exquisite golden anklets filled with red rubies.

Tragedy struck when he took one anklet to the city market. A dishonest court merchant framed him for stealing the Queen’s missing jewelry, and without a fair trial, her husband was unjustly executed.

Driven by heartbroken fury, Kannagi marched directly into the royal palace to demand justice. Before the King, she shattered her remaining anklet onto the floor. Bright red rubies spilled everywhere, proving her husband’s innocence, as the Queen’s anklet contained only white pearls. Realizing his fatal mistake, the King collapsed, and the sheer power of Kannagi’s grief and divine rage set the corrupt city ablaze.

Recognising her unmatched purity and strength, she transcended her mortal life to become Goddess Pattini. Brought to Sri Lanka centuries ago, she remains a timeless beacon of justice, healing, and compassion.
Connecting with that ancient light was an unforgettable moment on our journey. 🙏🏼

Do you remember the tangled jungle behind our yoga shala? 🌿✨

For a long time, it was just an overgrown spot where mosquitoes loved to breed. Over the past few months, we’ve been hard at work turning it into something truly special, and while work is still in progress, the magic is already happening! 🛠️🪷

We cleared the brush, built a peaceful water lily pond, and officially replaced the mosquitoes with dragonflies, nature’s ultimate mosquito hunters! ≽༏≼✨

Now, instead of buzzing pests, this spot is alive with dragonflies, swimming fish, and blooming lilies. 🪷

It’s becoming our favorite new sanctuary to sip morning tea, lose yourself in a book, or sit in quiet reflection after a yoga practice. ☕️📖🧘‍♀️
