Capoeira Sobreviventes is the 1st Capoeira group in Lebanon. CAPOEIRA? Capoeira has its own philosophy, culture, & music. OUR GRUPO? OUR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT?
A dynamic expression of Afro-Brazilian culture, that encompasses martial arts, dance elements & acrobatic movements. It builds up your spirits, strength, agility and flexibility! Capoeira Sobreviventes, which means "Survivors" in Portuguese, started training in Beirut in May 2006. It is affiliated to United Capoeira Association - UCA, under Guidance of Mestre Acordeon, Mestra Suelly and Mestre Cal
ango (www.capoeira.bz). A core group of Capoeira Sobreviventes students funded an NGO in 2008, VOLTA AO MUNDO (means "Around the world"), with a main objective to share joy and energy through Brazilian arts, dance, music and language. One of the NGO's major program "Jogo de Paz" (means "Game of Peace") benefits disavantaged children in Lebanon through Capoeira.
