The final day of competition saw Team Laos take on a strong Pacific Oceania side to conclude this year’s Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group II campaign.

After an intense week of tennis, every team was feeling the physical demands of the tournament. Despite the fatigue, it was inspiring to watch these incredible athletes continue to compete with passion, courage, and pride for their countries, leaving everything they had on the court until the very last point.

Aliya Vongdala stepped onto court first and showed tremendous grit and determination throughout her match. Although she was up against an opponent with exceptional power and experience, she continued to compete with courage and never stopped fighting.

Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen once again carried the responsibility of leading the team in a thrilling three-set battle. Both players battled through the intense Malaysian heat in a match filled with momentum swings, long rallies, and incredible effort. After a courageous performance, Malaylack narrowly fell short in the deciding set, with the demanding conditions taking their toll on both athletes.

This year’s campaign has certainly tested our team. We faced many challenges both on and off the court, but through every setback, our players remained united, resilient, and committed to representing Laos with pride.

Competing in Group II has been an invaluable learning experience. We now have a much clearer understanding of the level, intensity, and professionalism required to compete consistently against some of the region’s strongest nations. These lessons will become the foundation of our preparation moving forward.

While the results may not have gone our way this year, there were many positives to take from the tournament. Every match provided valuable experience, every challenge helped build character, and every setback fuelled our determination to improve. This is not the end of the journey—it is simply the beginning of the next chapter.

To finish the week, the team shared one final dinner together, reflecting on the campaign, celebrating the memories made, and having honest conversations about the road ahead. The belief within this group remains strong, and we are already looking forward to working hard for an even better campaign next year.

Today was a day of mixed emotions, but one that once again showcased the resilience, determination, and fighting spirit of Team Laos throughout this demanding week of competition.

Siana MacDonald stepped onto court first against one of Chinese Taipei’s highly regarded rising stars. She competed with courage and determination from the very first point, but her experienced opponent proved too strong on the day. Every match at this level provides valuable experience, and we are proud of the way Siana continues to embrace these opportunities and challenge herself against top international competition.

Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen once again carried the responsibility of leading the team and delivered a composed and professional performance from the opening ball. Facing one of the highest-ranked WTA players competing at this tournament, she played with confidence, controlled the tempo of the match with her powerful game, and applied relentless pressure that ultimately forced her opponent to retire.

In doubles, Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen and Aliya Vongdala were ready to take to the court looking to build on the day’s momentum. Unfortunately, the match was unable to be completed, with their opponents forced to withdraw due to injury, resulting in a walkover victory for Team Laos.

Rest Day! 😌

After several demanding days of travel, intense competition, soaring temperatures, and lengthy rain delays, today provided a well-earned opportunity for the team to recharge both physically and mentally.

The morning was focused on recovery, but there was still work to be done. The players returned to the practice courts for a light training session, fine-tuning key areas of their game and making final preparations for the challenge that lies ahead.

Away from the courts, the team enjoyed some quality time together with a visit to Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Twin Towers before sharing a wonderful team dinner. It was a chance to relax, reflect on the week so far, and enjoy some well-deserved treats after a busy few days of competition. Moments like these continue to strengthen the bond within the team and keep spirits high.

Tomorrow brings our biggest test yet as Team Laos takes on Chinese Taipei in our final group-stage match. Widely regarded as one of the tournament favourites, they boast a squad filled with experienced WTA professionals and high-level international competitors. It will be a tremendous challenge, but also an invaluable opportunity for our players to test themselves against world-class opposition, gain valuable experience, and showcase the fighting spirit of Lao tennis on the international stage.

It was a slow start to the day with persistent rain delaying play by almost five hours, but once the matches finally got underway, Team Laos was ready to compete.

Aliya Vongdala stepped onto court first against a strong and well-balanced opponent. While the result didn’t go her way, she never stopped fighting and continued to display the determination, resilience, and competitive spirit that have become her trademark throughout the tournament.

Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen then faced one of the tournament’s most experienced players in a match filled with aggressive rallies, tactical exchanges, and incredible intensity. Saving multiple match points and refusing to back down, she produced one of the most entertaining contests of the day and earned the admiration of everyone watching.

In doubles, Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen and Siana MacDonald returned to court full of confidence following yesterday’s victory. The pair once again demonstrated excellent teamwork and composure under pressure, overcoming several challenges along the way to secure another impressive win in the deciding match tiebreak.

🇱🇦 Billie Jean King Cup — Day 3 Update from Malaysia 🇲🇾 🎾

Clear skies, scorching sunshine, and not a drop of rain set the stage for another challenging day of competition as Team Laos faced a determined Sri Lankan side.

Aliya Vongdala was first on court and delivered one of her strongest performances of the tournament so far. She led for much of a closely contested opening set and pushed her opponent all the way before narrowly missing out. Despite the setback, Aliya never stopped fighting, showing tremendous grit, resilience, and determination from the first point to the last.

Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen then faced a confident opponent who came out aggressively and seized the early momentum. After a difficult start, Malaylack settled into the match and raised her level in the second set, battling hard to shift the momentum. Although the early deficit proved too much to overcome, her fighting spirit never wavered.

In doubles, Malaylack and Siana MacDonald returned to the court determined to finish the day on a positive note. Both players displayed outstanding composure under pressure, staying calm in the crucial moments to secure a hard-fought straight-sets victory and earn Team Laos a well-deserved win to close out the day.

The day began with the official Billie Jean King Cup Opening Ceremony, where teams from across Asia gathered to celebrate the spirit of international competition and sportsmanship. It was a proud moment for Team Laos to stand alongside the region’s best and represent our country on the world stage.

Following the ceremony, Team Laos faced a tough challenge against the tournament’s No. 2 seeds and host nation, Malaysia.

The players battled through demanding conditions, with intense heat, accumulated fatigue from the opening day, and multiple rain delays creating a challenging environment for everyone on court.

Siana MacDonald stepped up first and fought hard throughout her singles match. Despite showing determination and resilience, a strong Malaysian opponent capitalized on key opportunities to secure the win.

Malaylack Delilah Pathummakuronen then took to the court determined to keep the tie alive. In a closely contested battle interrupted by a lengthy rain delay, Delilah displayed excellent fighting spirit and produced some outstanding tennis, but ultimately fell short in a competitive two-set encounter.

In doubles, Siana MacDonald and Aliya Vongdala returned to the court after yet another extended rain interruption to face Malaysia’s top pairing. The duo continued to battle until the final point but were unable to overcome the strong and experienced Malaysian team.

Today, the Lao National Women’s Tennis Team completed its first official practice session ahead of the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group II competition in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The team spent the day adapting to the court conditions, high humidity, and preparing both mentally and physically for the challenges ahead. The energy, focus, and team spirit on display were outstanding. 💪🔥

This evening, our delegation also had the privilege of attending the official Welcome Dinner alongside participating nations from across the Asia/Oceania region. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate international friendship, sportsmanship, and the spirit of competition that makes the Billie Jean King Cup such a special event. 🇱🇦🤝🌏

🇱🇦 Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifiers 2026 – Colombo, Sri Lanka 🇱🇦🎾

A proud and resilient campaign from Team Laos at the ITF Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifiers 2026, finishing 11th out of 15 nations after a week of intense, high-level competition.

Competing under challenging circumstances with only two players — Athit Cassinis and Thanasone Songbandith — the team demonstrated exceptional determination, professionalism, and pride while representing Laos on the international stage.

Drawn into a highly competitive group, with eventual champions Malaysia, the team rose to the occasion with courage and commitment throughout the tournament.

🇱🇦 Athit Cassinis, Laos’ No.1 player, delivered an outstanding performance, leading from the front with multiple key victories — including being the only player to defeat Malaysia’s top-ranked player. His composure, fighting spirit, and consistency kept Laos competitive in every tie.

🇱🇦 Thanasone Songbandith, Laos’ No.2 player, faced a tough campaign under pressure but showed true resilience and character, competing with heart and determination in every match.

With only two players available, the physical and mental demands were immense — making their efforts even more commendable.

Beyond the results, the team embodied excellent sportsmanship, unity, and national pride throughout the competition.

Day 6 rested firmly on the shoulders of our number one player, Sataporn Simmalivong, who stepped onto the court with belief, pride, and purpose. Facing Malaysia’s top player once again, Sataporn sought redemption following their tightly contested team-event encounter earlier in the Games.

This time, his opponent rose to the occasion with superior firepower and valuable tour-level experience. Sataporn fought hard, made adjustments, and searched relentlessly for solutions, but ultimately came up against a player who managed the pressure of the big stage more effectively on the day.

While this match marked our final competitive appearance at these SEA Games, it is far from the end of the journey. Day 5 was the busiest and most demanding day of the competition so far, with every athlete stepping onto the court to represent Laos in their individual events. From the first ball to the last, the intensity was relentless. The pressure was high, the opponents were world-class, and our athletes faced every challenge with courage, pride, and heart.

🌟 Soulisack and Athit shared a truly special moment, competing together as brothers on the SEA Games stage against a high-energy Malaysian team. Their performance showed grit, belief, and invaluable experience that will shape a bright future ahead.

🌟 Siana and Aliya took on a strong and fiery Vietnamese pairing in women’s doubles. Despite falling in straight sets, their effort and fight reflected the growing strength of Laos tennis.

🌟 Daimon and Xaysavath came out firing in men’s doubles against a powerful Thai team. They left everything on the court, pushing hard until the end against opponents with immense firepower.

🌟 Malaylack stepped onto centre court for a highly anticipated singles clash against the tournament’s 3rd seed and a top WTA-ranked player from Thailand. She started confidently and fearlessly, but against an opponent of this level, a few costly errors proved decisive. Still, her performance showed she belongs on this stage.

🌟 After a short turnaround, Malaylack returned alongside Sataporn for mixed doubles against Vietnam. The match was tight throughout, with only a few key points separating the teams in critical moments.

🌟 In the final match of the day, Xaysavath and Siana faced crowd favourites from Thailand. The match delivered highlight reel rallies and exciting tennis, but the Thai pair ultimately asserted their dominance.
