Trail running series across Asia, featuring the oldest annual championship competition for competitive athletes and the Grandmaster Quest: an individual challenge for persevering ultra runners. Asia Trail Master is an internationally acknowledged series of trail running races in Asia managed by Kuai Sports Promotions Ltd. It features an annual championship based on a transparent and easy-to-foll

ow points system for competitive runners, but puts emphasis on runners of all levels via the Grandmaster Quest, a special achievement award for persistent long distance finishers. The core objective of the Asia Trail Master series comes in four parts:

a) To promote a healthy lifestyle and boost environmental consciousness among international citizens through the sport of trail running. b) To create a community platform and bring people from various distinct countries, cultures and backgrounds together. c) To provide trail running event organisers with a new and outsourced platform to boost international promotion and mediatisation of their events, as well as assist organisers with their business networking and event-technical needs. d) To provide Asian trail runners with a great performance goal, be it to become a Grandmaster or the year's Asia Trail Master champion, both of which may result in rewards and sponsorship endorsements

Marking its eighth season in 2023, the Asia Trail Master championship series will have, in total, 30 races in 14 Asian countries by the end of the year. Some of the major races include Ultra Trail Chiang Rai in Thailand, Borneo TMBT Ultra in Malaysia, Izu Trail Journey in Japan, Vietnam Mountain Marathon, Lantau 70 in Hong Kong, and many more. The Asia Trail Master Champions over the past five years were:

2015: Arief Wismoyono (Indonesia) and Ma Yanxing (China)
2016: Manolito Divina (Philippines) and Tahira Najmunisaa Muhammad Zaid (Malaysia)
2017: Soonseng Ong (Malaysia) and Kim Matthews (Australia)
2018: Alessandro Sherpa (Italy) and Ruth Theresia (Indonesia)
2019: John Ellis (Australia) and Veronika Vadovicova (Slovakia)
2020: due to covid 19 crisis, the merged 2020 and 2021 season could not deliver champions
2022: Arnie Macaneras(Philippines) and Hau Ha (Vietnam)

UTSG 60 Women - Big surprise towards the end as race favourite and leader Akane Nemoto slows down dramatically and struggles to the finish. It's Malaysia's Michelle Ng Qian Ying who takes victory in 7h58 instead! First appearance of Michelle in an ATM Championship Qualifier, so what an introduction!

Akane Nemoto may not even make it to the podium, as five other runners are right with her as they approach the finish line. Indeed, Zoe Tan takes second place 13 minutes behind Ng. Zoe ran a strong last stint to catch and overtake Filipino Judith Lozano at the end. Patsy Tan and Li Yueming took places four and five, and the poor Akane Nemoto struggled home in sixth, very much like Kristjan Chapman in the men's race earlier. BUTM 100 race winner Mia Revilla was seventh after a very heavy two months of racing in which she also scored third in H1 (100 Miles) five weeks ago.

As for Jiajen, he is on Loop 6 .. currently in 5th place overall !

John Stingray Onifa 🇵🇭 storms to the 60KM crown with a blistering 5:55 finish. What a powerhouse!l After regaining the ATM Championship title in February, it’s his second race win of the season. Onifa reportedly will now take a bit of a break from racing.

Early on, KL-based Icelander Kristjan Chapman and Singapore-based Frenchman Philippe Daniel were trying to keep pace with Onifa, but both paid a bit of a price towards the end. Daniel Yap from JB stormed passed them to take second place at the finish in 6h29. Also local star Scott Pugh ran a great second half to claim third on the podium, just three minutes later! Philippe Daniel still held on to fourth place in 6h41, still one of his best race results in an ATM points race. Lim Jia Jen finishes in fifth, followed by Deric Lau and Tomohiro Mizukoshi.

Kristian is digging deep and pushing through cramps. He arrived 14 minutes after Stingray at the 42KM mark, with his dad there supporting him all the way.
