Yesterday 20/6/2026 at Taveta Bahati Grounds we successfully launched FKF County Women League. The opening match were two teams that participated in last season upto mini league: Taveta Queens and Mrabani Queens.
We also had two new teams: Red Stars Queens and Sisal Queen.

I would like to thank FKF Taita Taveta Branch for the support and assurance in embracing women football and provided 1 ball each to the four teams. I am also glad to have received water support from my able Nec Member Hon. Kerubo Momanyi who has promised to push for finances for women league from the National Office.

Once again the girls and women have many challenges, they lack jerseys, soccer boots, playing balls, training equipment and even FIrst Aid kits due to financial constraints.

I call upon all football stakeholders, sponsors and investors to support women and help nature their untapped talents from the grassroot level.

Lastly I thank the Taveta FKF Sub Branch Committee led by Chairman Hannington Okuna and W/Rep madam Mselemani for their coordination and mobilizing of teams which is not an easy task.

First and foremost, thanks to everyone for making our meetings a success. Once again a new season is here with us. Last season we are proud to have promoted 2 teams to the Women Regional League ie. Kajire Starlets from Voi SubCounty and Gicheha Queens from Taveta Sub County.

This season we hope for better awards and easening financial burdens to our teams. I would like to thank our FKF Chairman Duncan Maghanga for considering Women League and slashing Registration fees. Initially teams are paying ksh. 21500 to FKF account. We have slashed the payment and Women teams will pay 8500 only breakdown as below:-

Players cards -6000
Master card -500

We shall work hand in hand looking for sponsorships to help cater for participation fee of Ksh. 10,000 each, balls, Jersey's and boots , dignitafy kits as well as referee fees which is a major challenge.

Teams are struggling with finances that shun them away. We invite football stakeholders, sponsors, County Government, and even investors to come out and support Women League in Taita Taveta which is now growing despite the challenges we are facing.

Mwatate, Voi and Wundanyi Sub counties agreed to make affiliation payments by 30/6/26 and kick off by 15/7/26 unless otherwise.

Taveta Sub county have already complied and a few teams remaining confirmed payment by 8/6/26 and kick off on 20/6/26.

Having successful meetings I urge teams to support the girls / women league and make this season 26/27 better.

Day 1 of the FKF Talent Identification (Scouting) Training Workshop for Cohort 2 is officially underway in Mombasa, under the FIFA Talent Development Scheme, coordinated by the Football Kenya Federation Technical Department.

As FKF Taita Taveta County, we proudly nominated four coaches for this important program aimed at strengthening modern talent identification.

For Phase 1 our representatives are;

The other two representatives, Yassin Chalambo and Fredrick Sofalee will participate in phase two of the Cohort.

This is a major milestone for our county as we continue investing in knowledge, structure, and the future of our young players. The journey to building stronger grassroots football continues.

Following a consultative meeting between Football Kenya Federation (FKF) County officials and Taveta Sub-County League clubs under FKF Taveta Sub-County League, key deliberations were held on the way forward regarding the management and development of football activities in Taveta.

Among the major issues discussed was the eligibility criteria for clubs to participate in the electoral process, particularly the requirement that a club must have participated in the league for at least three of the last four seasons to qualify to vote for their preferred leaders.

This provision has generated varied opinions and resistance from some stakeholders.
After listening to all views and in the interest of stability, order, and continuity of football activities, the FKF Executive has resolved to temporarily oversee and manage football operations at the Sub-County level on an interim basis as consultations continue to address the leadership and electoral concerns.

We assure all clubs and stakeholders that this decision is aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the game and ensuring smooth running of competitions while a lasting solution is being pursued.

We urge all clubs to remain calm, united, and committed to the development of football in Taveta. Further communication will be shared in due course.
