🏀 From the Basketball Court to Climate Action! 🌍♻️
At Nyeri Ballers Association, we believe basketball is about more than competition—it is about building stronger communities, empowering young people, and creating a sustainable future.
We are proud to celebrate the feature by Kenya News Agency highlighting the inspiring work of our partner, Alex Munyiri Maina, and New Life Africa in transforming waste into opportunity through environmental conservation, mangrove restoration, ocean health initiatives, and youth empowerment.
As an association, we recognize that quality sports facilities and a healthy environment go hand in hand. Every young person deserves safe, clean spaces to play, grow, and pursue their dreams. Protecting our environment is therefore not separate from developing sports—it is part of building resilient and thriving communities.
Through our partnership with New Life Africa and the Quad B initiative, we remain committed to promoting basketball alongside climate action, environmental education, plastic pollution reduction, and sustainable community development.
We congratulate Kenya News Agency for bringing this important story to the public and thank everyone who continues to support youth-led environmental and sports initiatives.
Together, let's build a future where every community has clean environments, thriving ecosystems, and opportunities for young people to excel both on and off the court.
🏀 Play. Protect. Prosper.

📍 Satellite Forensic Report Released: The Changing Landscape of Public Sports and Recreational Land in Nyeri
This satellite forensic assessment documents the historical evolution of selected public sports and recreational facilities in Nyeri Municipality, including Jan Mohammad (Asian Quarters) Sports Ground, Dedan Kimathi Sports Ground, and Ruringu Sports Ground.
The report raises important questions regarding:
⚽ Protection of public sports and recreational facilities
🌳 Preservation of public open spaces
🏗️ Land-use planning and urban development decisions
👥 Youth access to sports infrastructure
🏛️ Governance, transparency, and accountability in the management of public resources
This report is not intended to apportion blame. Rather, it seeks to contribute to evidence-based dialogue and informed decision-making regarding the future of public sports and recreational spaces in Nyeri.
The findings underscore the importance of safeguarding public recreational land for present and future generations and ensuring that development and sports infrastructure advance together, not at the expense of one another.
Every child deserves a place to play. Every community deserves public spaces to thrive. Development should expand opportunities—not erase them

✊ FROM THE DEPTHS OF NYERI COUNTY JAIL: THE VOICES OF THE FORGOTTEN ATHLETES! 🏀🇰🇪
Walls cannot silence the truth! Even behind bars, the spirit of the Nyeri sportsman remains unbroken. Today, a clarion call has been issued from a private number within the prison walls—the voice of Negus has spoken, and he speaks for every basketballer, footballer, and athlete in Nyeri County!
The message is clear:
WE WANT JAN MOHAMMED STADIUM BACK! 🏟️🚫
The transformation of our historic sports ground into the "Field Marshal Muthoni Kirima Bus Terminus" was a betrayal of the youth. What used to be a sanctuary for:
🏀 Elite Basketball
⚽ Grassroots Football
🏐 Volleyball matches
🏃 Athletics training
🚗 Vital Driving School grounds
🏆 School Competitions
..has been turned into a concrete jungle without proper public participation! Our brothers in the Nyeri County Jail, led by Negus, are demanding the immediate reconstruction of the terminus back to its original purpose.
Negus is on record: "We will stop at nothing to recover the lost sports ground. We are coming for every damage caused to the footballers, the volleyballers, and the driving instructors who were ignored during the change of user."
How do we build a nation while we destroy the playing fields of its children? How do we talk about "Talanta Hela" while Nyeri Town’s primary sports hub is buried under exhaust fumes and bus tracks? without following the constitution?
This is more than just a game; it’s about our heritage and our future!
