I am deeply grateful to everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the Nairobi City Marathon 2026, which has gone down in history as our biggest edition yet, attracting a record 17,450 entrants across all categories.

This milestone is not just about numbers, but about teamwork, commitment, and shared belief in building a world-class road racing event in Nairobi. I extend my sincere appreciation to all partners, volunteers, technical officials, medical teams, security agencies, sponsors, and the entire athletics community who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event a success.

In a special way, I thank the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy Sports for the support throughout this journey, which has been instrumental in elevating the standards of this marathon year after year.

I am equally honoured by the presence and support of the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, H.E. Salim Mvurya who graced the event and reaffirmed government commitment to sports development.

My sincere appreciation also goes to the President of Athletics Kenya, Lt. Gen. Rtd Jackson Tuwei, for his leadership, guidance and continued support in strengthening athletics governance and excellence in the country.

To all athletes, fans and Nairobi residents who turned out in large numbers, thank you for making this a truly memorable celebration of sport.

We move forward with even greater ambition.

Counting down to Sunday’s Nairobi City Marathon, I’m proud of how inclusive this race has become, welcoming elites and first-timers alike. Today, sharing a warm moment with Athletics Kenya President Lt Gen (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei and media icon Jeff Koinange reminded me why we’re transforming running into an industry that inspires, creates opportunities and celebrates Kenya’s running spirit.
