Tell me, does this sound familiar...
When expectations are not met by a leader on your team, do you treat it as a delegation problem or a performance problem?
Often a senior leader has to think systems.
What leadership system is failing here
In several conversations, is is your leadership structure setup that is failing - yet it feels like a delegation system failure.
Often when the organization needs a leader on the team whose responsibility is to bridge that gap between strategic and operational leadership. When they are not doing that part effectively, it will require another leader (you) to step back in and drive the strategic actions.
Two key leadership considerations for today:
a) Are you the senior leader who is swamped by operational items to point that you let fall your strategic objectives?
b) Are you the senior leader who needs to develop a layer of middle leaders who will implement the strategic objectives so you can grow them?
Both are not automatic systems in leadership structures - yet regularly assumed to be in place.
They are very critical to have in place if you intend to grow the organization for impact.
On a recent coach call, we managed to identify a team leader that needed both clearly established in her organization.
We have set a plan to get it in place in the coming months of coaching.
by the way...
end of this month, I am bringing together 40 senior leaders in high stake industries to a live event here in Syokimau (Nairobi) to discuss why businesses stagnate or fail even with good leaders in place, to establish 5 leadership multipliers for leadership growth and sharpen how we build high performance teams.

3...2....1....
The second half started
Every soccer game I have watched in the ongoing world cup has had its fair share of drama in the second half.
With the introduction of hydration breaks in each half, the second half of the game now has a second half within the second half.
That second-of-second half has proven to have even greater drama for several teams. (vent story for another day!)
The problem I see starts when we assume the game is over (almost over) once we start the second half.
This is not accurate because regardless of the results of the first half, I have the equal amount of time and therefore and equal amount of opportunity to make up for what I missed in the first half.
Secondly, the game is not over. I need to keep playing the game with zeal and competitive mindset.
Similarly, the year is not over!
I can make up in deals the next 6 months that I couldn't make in the first 6 months.
The actions I take into the next 6 months will determine the results I will get - I can't use the first half as excuse for failure in the second half.
When I take a reset, rethink and reframe now, I will be able to face the second half with finality and focus that drives me to accomplish more - even to the last kick of the game.
As a business leader...
It is time to reset and reframe your second half of year.
Whether you did well or poorly in first half, the second half is waiting to be planned and executed with excellence.
I invite you to our Business Reset & Growth workshop.
Join us as we:
a) Review our leadership systems
b) Review our business systems
c) Build a reframe for growth
d) Set a 3-step plan with logical next steps
Don't go into H2 with same mindset and plan to win where others are shifting.
Join us for the masterclass part of the workshop this weekend then schedule a deep dive coach call after that for clarify and support on your plan through the second half.
Imagine going into the field with a tactic (plan) in mind, team of other business owners you met at the workshop then have a coach on the touchline who knows what you want to achieve and understands when to push you form your limits of comfort...
Here is the link to register for the workshop.

It's a fresh day...
There is something I have noticed when interacting with different teams and leaders then start to discuss the need for consistent personal development.
When it comes to personal development, senior leaders in high stakes industries make this mistake: we forget that self awareness is key to be able to address the root issues that are holding me back from growth.
It’s a mistake because I miss the real opportunity for growth when I don't know my latent potential. I will develop the usual and mandatory areas yet we need to develop to become an all rounded leader.
The consequence is that I will remain stunted in several areas even when it is evident that I attend training and coaching often.
It will look like the training is not working but it is a problem caused by unbalanced leadership development.
Instead, when I recognize there are 4 faces of influence, I will test myself to see which area is slowing down my impact then can build those areas to be better prepared.
The result will be that the growth path I will now take will keep me growing into a balanced leader who is able to show up and influence differently when required.
So next time you have the opportunity to develop yourself as a senior leader or to develop your team leadership, remember there are different faces your team needs to respond to from you in the different situations they tackle.
If you want to get the whole senior leadership system of 4 faces, I invite you to our next leaders intensive that we are hosting on 31st July!
A two day workshop style set up to reignite your 4 faces of influence that have been missing and limiting your influence.
Plan to come with your leadership team for a refreshing time of reflection and growth to grow your performance in H2 of 2026 and on.
I invite you to join us.

Failure is the pathway to success 👍🏿
Do you agree?
Failure causes me to appreciate the work it takes to be successful and success helps me to understand failure is not final!

While delivering training for a manufacturing organization - for their production team, the brief received was that unmet actions were caused primarily due to "strategy problem".
Whereas from experience they are actually ex*****on problems.
The team leader doesnt get the required actions done as required.
Have you noticed any of these:
- Projects slow down almost to a halt.
- Deadlines slip with reason.
- Teams become reactive to situations.
- Team leaders feel like they are constantly firefighting.
Quite often as all this is happening, everyone is working hard.
It is not a matter of the effort the team put in. Ex*****on will fail when either of these are present:
* accountability is inconsistent
* decision making takes too long
* teams are misaligned
* performance becomes unpredictable
The result of this is seen in terms of operational pressure across the organization.
It raises its head as an operations issue yet it is a leadership ex*****on issue.
Have you seen its head raised on your team/ organization?
8 seats have opened for our leadership development program designed for senior leaders operating in high-pressure environments.
Inside the program, we focus on:
* improving ex*****on consistency
* strengthening accountability
* decision-making under pressure
* aligning teams around priorities
* building leadership capability that drives performance
This is for:
* Directors
* Senior Managers
* Heads of Department
* Leaders in volunteer/ donor funded organizations
Any leadership teams responsible for results will be in great company on this one.
If your organization is struggling with ex*****on, alignment, or performance consistency

The past 2 or so years, I have noticed something of interest.
Across organizations I have interacted with (of different sizes) that are struggling to meet their strategic goals, it is not that they lack leadership.
The leadership they have is having challenges that have impact on tactical ex*****on (production).
Several symptoms begin to show that there is breakdown in strategy ex*****on. In which case:
• Even where strategies are clear, they are not implemented
• Plans for ex*****on exist but don’t consistently translate into action
In such cases the operations are limited to status quo activities that limits innovation needed for growth.
One area I like to start with is to check the self-awareness of the leaders.
When a leader knows their strengths and personality, they are more able to lead with clarity and impact is just around the corner.
Have you noticed the missing link for ex*****on as a senior leader in your organization?
This is where the leaders mosaic comes to play.
On the mosaic, we draw up who you are in terms of your gifting, personality, goals and habits.
Then we help you put those into live action as you go about leading your team and organization.
