One of the things I love most about the IKGA, and I’m sure many other organizations share this same spirit, is that within Goju-kai, we are family, regardless of the country we call home.

National borders and international politics do not determine how we treat one another. We choose friendship over division, respect over differences, and unity through our shared love of karate-dō. In keeping with Saiko-Shihan’s vision for the IKGA, we seek to promote peace, goodwill, and mutual respect, especially in our international relationships.

This spirit is beautifully demonstrated here. Across countries, cultures, and circumstances, we continue to encourage one another, support one another, train together, learn from one another, and celebrate each other’s successes.

At the same time, our hearts remain with our Goju-kai family in Ukraine. We continue to pray for peace, for resolution, and for strength and protection for our Ukrainian members and their families as they continue to endure such difficult circumstances.

This is what budō should teach us: not simply how to become better karateka, but how to become better human beings.

A beautiful and heartfelt tribute from Frank Brandon Shihan in honor of Ingo-Hanshi’s 83rd birthday.

Their close friendship, built through many years of shared experiences, interaction, and collaboration, is clearly reflected in both this meaningful gesture and the words expressed within it.

I’m sure many of us throughout the Gōjū-kai family can echo these same sentiments as we reflect on the tremendous role Ingo-Hanshi has played in the development, growth, and legacy of Gōjū-kai over the years.

Happy 83rd Birthday, Ingo-Hanshi! With deep respect and gratitude for all you have given, taught, and contributed to generations of karateka around the world. 🙇✊🏻
