ある時は笑えてある時はスマート😎いつもユニークなアイテムを生み出してくれるBLUE LUGのデザインラボから、今日はオリジナルのキャップをお届け

ボールキャップの方は漢字の”東京”と日本中の道路で目にする自転車マーク🚲をガッチャさせたオリジナルグラフィック(想像以上にいい感じの仕上がりだったので同モチーフのワッペンとピンズも作っちゃってます)

リフレクター素材のトリムがY2Kムードなロングビルキャップは携帯に便利なフォールディングタイプ。柔らかい素材で折りたためるよ。とかそう言う事では無く3つのパネルに分かれたつばがパタパタと重ねられるユニークな構造

型は浅めのジェットキャップで柔らかな生地がヴィンテージライク。サイドパネルがメッシュの切り替えで通気性良かったり、ハットクリップ(帽子が風で飛んでいかない)のディテールはあの頃のアウトドブランドを連想させたり

テッキーなニュアンスとローテクなギミックが絶妙な加減で着地した、他に無い感じをお楽しみ頂けたら😉

From silly and wacky to smart and cool designs, the Blue Lug graphic design team always comes up with unique stuff. Today we’re posting about two new hats.

The ball cap features an original graphic that mashes up the Japanese kanji for “Tokyo” with the bicycle symbol 🚲 seen on roads all across Japan.
It turned out even better than we expected, so we also mades some patches and pins using the same design.

With reflective trim giving it a strong Y2K vibe, the long-bill cap has a folding design that makes it easy to carry around.
And by “folding,” we don’t just mean that it’s made from soft bill. The brim is divided into three panels that fold nicely onto one another, giving it weird construction.

It has a low-profile five-panel silhouette, while the soft fabric gives it a vintage feel. Mesh side panels keep things breathable, and the weird clip which stops the hat from flying away in the wind brings back old outdoor gear vibes.

The techy feel and low-tech tricks come together in just the right balance.

🌶️BLACK MOUNTAIN CYCLES “MOD ZERO”🥫

長年自転車フレームの設計を手掛けて来たBMCのオーナーMike Varley氏がデザインするグラベルバイク

設計をゼロからやり直す意味と、ウェストマリン周辺でライド中よく見かけるモデロビールの缶(Modelo→Modzero)の二つに掛けたモデル名。BMCのフラットバー BAR NONE が発表された時も感じたけど、気負わないネーミングセンスがマイクさんの人柄を表している様で素敵。飾らず知的

新色はスモーキーな朱色のChili Flake(マイクさんお気に入りの唐辛子スパイスらしい)。ホイールサイズは700cと650bどちらにも対応＝遊びかたや体格に合わせて選べるコンバーチブル設計。走りを楽しむ為の最新規格は積極的に取り入れながら、ニューイングランドスタイルのセグメントフォークは伝統を感じさせてくれる

幡ヶ谷店メカニックが組み上げた一台はMOD ZEROの持ち味を生かすダイナモカスタム。ヘッドライトは信頼のSON、超ロースタック設計のヘッドはENDURO製、レジェンドビルダーのSTEVE POTTSが手がけるchinookサドルはやはりBMCと相性が良いし、セラコート仕上げのTHOMSONは土臭いバイクにぴったり

ドライブコンポーネントにSHIMANO最新のオートシフトを取り入れちゃう辺りが、BLUE LUGメカニックの遊び心と探究心

A gravel bike designed by BMC owner Mike Varley, who has spent many years designing bicycle frames.

The name Mod. Zero has two meanings: starting the design over again from zero, and the Modelo beer cans Mike often spots while riding around West Marin.

Mike’s relaxed approach to naming seems to reflect his personality. Understated and intelligent. We felt the same way when he named his Nitto made handlebar the “Bar None”.

The new color is Chili Flake, a smoky vermilion apparently named after one of Mike’s favorite chili seasonings.

The frame is compatible with both 700c and 650b wheels, giving riders the freedom to choose accordingly to their size and how they want to ride. It takes modern standard parts that make riding more fun, while the segmented fork maintains a strong sense of tradition.

This particular bike, built by one of our Hatagaya mechanics, is a dynamo-equipped custom that makes the most of the Mod Zero’s character. The front light is from Son, while the ultra-low-stack headset comes from Enduro.

The Chinook saddle, made by legendary framebuilder Steve Potts, feels right at home on a Black Mountain, and the Cerakote-finished THOMSON parts are a perfect match for a bike with such an earthy, rugged looks.

The latest batch of Black Mountain frames will be going live at 7:00 p.m. tonight🙌

今回が初の試みとなるレコードショップをお招きしてのイベント。

目黒区祐天寺にあるSolight Storage( Solight Storage )の店主、トシさんにアナログ盤のみで店内BGMをかけていただきます！
もちろんその場でレコード買えちゃいます。

そしてフードにはLaundry( )🧆
僕の大好きなファラフェルボールをご用意していただきます！
アイスコーヒーや缶ビールもあるので、ぜひご一緒に。



8月に入って思いつき、その勢いのままに開催するこのイベント。僕自身も当日どんな感じになるのかまだ想像できてませんが、普段きてくれてるお客さんたちはもちろん、初めましてな方にもこの機会にお会いできたらと思ってます！！

🛒OMNIUM "MINI V3"🪲

街乗りに調子良さそうなコンパクト・カーゴバイクを設計したのは、意外な事にコペンハーゲンのメッセンジャー会社。前後異径(20×29インチ)プラットフォームがユニークかつ合理的なデザインのMINI V3

こちらはご遠方にお住まいのオーナー様からオンラインストア経由でご依頼頂いた一台

BLUE LUGメカニックいわく、ワイヤー類が長くなりがちなカーゴバイクは油圧ブレーキを選んどくのがベター。レバーの引きが重くならないし、沢山荷物(もちろんチャイルドシートのお子さんも💺)積んだ時も安定したブレーキ性能を発揮してくれる

フレームの材質は伝統的なクロモリだけど、モダンなディテールのOMNIUMなら削り出し部品とも相性が良くて。ステムとシートポストにはアメリカのTHOMSONをチョイス

ストレス無く日常使いしたければダイナモカスタムは取り入れたい。いわば自転車の発電所🏭フロントハブには信頼のSONを(OMNIUMのフロントは15mmスルーアクスルで超安定！)。前後ライトもSON NABENDYNAMOで揃えれば完璧なエブリデイバイク仕様

これまた安定感のある両立スタンドとフルフェンダーも忘れずに😉カーゴバイクと思えない軽快な走りだからデイリーユースにとどめておくのは勿体ない。ぜひキャンプツーリングにも挑戦してくださいー

You might be surprised to hear that this compact cargo bike, The Mini V3 was designed by a bike messenger company in Copenhagen. The 20x29” wheel size platform is truly unique.

This specific bike was ordered online by a customer who lives outside of Tokyo.

According to the Blue Lug mechanics, bikes that require long inner brake cables, like cargo bikes are better with hydraulic brakes, because you would want brakes that works properly if you’re carrying heavy load, or when you’re riding with your child on a child seat and hydraulic brakes generally has lighter lever action.

The frame material is steel, and this modern detail of the bike itself ties in really nice with machined aluminum components. For this build, the owner chose a Thomson seatpost and stem.

If you want a truly stress-free everyday setup, a dynamo set up is well worth adding. Think of it as your bike’s own little power station 🏭

We went with a trusty SON front hub (the OMNIUM uses a super-stable 15mm thru-axle up front!), paired with Son Nabendynamo lights front and rear for the ultimate everyday-bike setup.

A sturdy double-leg kickstand and full fenders are also essential 😉

With a ride this quick and nimble, it’s almost hard to believe it’s a cargo bike and it would be a shame to limit it to daily errands. We’d love to see you take it on a bikepacking or camping trip too!

🌹RON'S BIKES × PUCCI & COOK PAINT WORKS🍊

COOKのコンちゃんとは友人であり、自転車フレームのペインターという数少ない同業者。Joe Bellのスタジオで腕を振るうJonathan Pucci(師匠JBはRivendellのカスタムフレームやRichard Sachs等を塗ってるレジェンド)

今年に入ってプッチからオファーがあり、来日のタイミングに合わせCOOKの工房でセッション🫟RON’SのフレームをPUCCIとCOOKで好きな色に塗っちゃおうぜ？っていう夢の様なコラボが形になりました👏

夕暮れ時のマジックアワーをテーマに、見惚れるブラシ使いで空のグラデーションを表現。カラー名はSunset Fade、MoonLight Fade。ハンドペイントの為(プッチの滞在日数も限られて)ご用意できた本数はわずか

そしてRON’Sのロニーの粋な計らいで、フレームカラーに合わせたハンドルバーバッグFabios Clapと、バンダナとキャップを作ってくれました😘これは本当に嬉しい

Jonathan Pucci, a bicycle frame painter who works with the legendary painter Joe Bell, and Konno from our paint studio Cook Paint Works got together and worked on a very cool project👏

Check out these special painted Ron’s Bike frames! The concept of the finishes are the magical colors of the dusk. The color names are Sunset Fade and Moonlight Fade, which both are obviously very limited.

Our friend Ronnie also made us some of their soft goods in the same colors for this project! Thanks Ronnie😘

早いの軽いの大好物🤤レーサー気質な幡ヶ谷メカニックの大地

トラックバイクもカーボンロードも遠慮せず自分のスタイルで乗りこなしちゃうのが彼。大体いつも砕けた言葉でフレームやパーツの事を説明してくれるのだけど、だからこそのリアリティ。ピュアに乗るのが好きだからそのワード出せるんだろうな、実は核心だなと仲間ながらに感心する事もしばしば

そんな大地が乗るRITCHEYはグラベルフレーム OUTBACK V2。リッチー50周年を記念して作られた特別製。久々にしっかりグラベルを走るタイミングに合わせてパーツを新調しつつ載せ替え

「どれだけの悪路でもホイールベースとフォークレイクが随分長いので安定感半端ない」「ツンのめって転ける心配が皆無でついつい走りにくそうな所を走ってしまう」とは本人談😅少々無茶な走りを支えてくれるのはCHRIS KINGのカーボンホイール。ペダルには”ビタッと感”が他に無いWOLF TOOTHの新作ビンディングペダルを。シートポストにはちゃっかりセラコート仕様のTHOMSON

走らせたら相当キレキレなんだろうけど、キメ過ぎてないというか実用的？なんとなく親しみを感じる組み方が大地らしさ

Daichi. He’s one of the few Blue Lug members that loves fast and light bikes.

Whether it’s a track bike or a road bike, he has a really sick style of riding. He usually talks about frames and components very casually, but that’s exactly what makes his words feel so real. You can tell those words come naturally because he simply loves riding. What may sound casual at first often gets right to the heart of the matter.

This is his Ritchey Outback V2, a gravel bike with Ritchey’s 50th anniversary finish. He recently upgraded his set up for a gravel ride.

Daichi says “The wheelbase is long and there’s plenty of fork rake, so it feels insanely stable no matter how rough the terrain gets.”
“There’s pretty much no fear of the front end pitching forward and sending me over the bars, so I always end up riding through places that look like they’d be a nightmare to get across.” About this bike😅 Supporting this slightly reckless style of riding is a set of Chris King carbon wheels. For the pedals, he chose Wold Tooth’s new clipless pedals, which offer a locked-in feel unlike anything else. And of course, he’s quietly slipped in a Cerakote-finished Thomson seatpost.

The Outnackl is a good example, but many modern gravel frames share the same standards, making it relatively easy to transfer parts from anoyther bike, regardless of whether the frame is carbon, steel, or something else. 🚙BLACK MOUNTAIN CYCLES “ROAD”⛰️

一度は生産終了を迎えるも、実はブランド設立当初からラインナップされていたBMCの原点とも言えるロードフレーム。それが復活すると言う知らせを聞いた時は、皆で静かにガッツポーツ💪だったし(僕らの様な少々ニッチな)需要に反して選択肢が狭まりつつある、リムブレーキバイクの可能性を広げてくれた

ベーシックなロードバイクとは少し違って、速さよりも快適さにフォーカスしたタイヤサイズは700×35mm。SURLYやRIVENDELLにも通ずる自転車価値観は、より太いタイヤが入る＝ライドの幅、場所、楽しみ方が増える、ていうシンプル理論

オーセンティックな胴抜きペイントは伝説のレーサーEddy Merckx氏へのトリビュート。トップチューブへ繊細に溶接されたトンネル型のガイドは伝統的なロードレーサーのディテールを思わせる

リムブレーキ好きと言えばこの人。のメカニックかねやんが組んだ一台は36cタイヤでクリアランスのギリギリを攻めるマニアックビルド👠レジェンド達が溶接したチタンステム&シートポストが眩しい

RAWカラーのヘッドセットはカリフォルニアのEnduro。ベアリングとカップを一体化させた超ロースタックデザイン。ライムカラーのボトルはR+E Cycles(シアトルのバイクショップ)のAlderがやってるライドチームの物(久々に入荷したので早速オンラインに上げてます📲ぜひチェックを)

毎度のことながら同じセッティングで満足しないのが彼。さっき見たらまたパーツ変えてました😂今後の変貌をお楽しみに〜

It was once discontinued, but this frame had actually been part of the lineup since the very beginning of the brand.
So when we heard it was coming back, there was a quiet fist pump from all of us💪

And honestly, we’re stoked to see it return.
As options for rim brake bikes continue to shrink despite the demand from a niche enthusiast like us, this frame opens up a whole new range of possibilities.

Rather than chasing outright speed like a typical road bike, it puts comfort and versatility first, with clearance for 700×35c tires. The philosophy reminds us a lot of SURLY and RIVENDELL: bigger tires simply mean more places to ride, more ways to ride, and more fun. Simple as that.

The authentic double-stripe paint is a tribute to legendary racer Eddy Merckx, while the delicately welded tunnel-shaped cable guide on the top tube brings to mind the details of classic road racers.

This particular build was put together by our rim-brake enthusiast and mechanic Kaneyan, pushing the clearance to the absolute limit with 36c tires.

The raw headset is from Enduro, featuring a super low stack design that integrates the bearings and cups into one unit.

The lime-colored bottle is from the ride team run by Alder at R+E Cycles, a bike shop in Seattle.

As always, Kaneyan isn’t the kind of guy who’s satisfied with the same setup for too long.
I just checked the bike and, yep… he’s already swapped another part😂

🤸‍♂️BLUE LUG “MOTION PANTS”🧘‍♂️

「丁度良い。」っていう簡単そうでこれが中々難しい、僕らにとっての程よいポイントを目指して作ったデイリーウェア

太過ぎず適度にリラックスのテーパードシルエットは正にそのポイントのひとつで、快適だけど自転車でも調子良くて、でもラフ過ぎない雰囲気。そんな感じで一つ一つのデザインを 丁度良い 目掛けて詰めていったら、自ずとオールシーズン履けるパンツに。丈夫だけど重く無い生地で通気性も考えられていて、お天道様が気まぐれなこの時期にはぴったりかも？

そんなMOTION PANTS 心待ちの新色が上がって来たので、今日はそのご紹介を
追加されたのは7色。ハッキリしたオレンジからペールトーンのラベンダーまでバリエーション豊富。ベーシックな定番色も合わせて全12色(!)っていうよりどりみどりなラインナップとなりました

素材はバイクショーツと同じくサラッと軽いタスランナイロン、ポケット内部は通気性良好なメッシュ仕様、リリースも調整も楽々なバックルとストラップ、裾は特に自転車乗る時便利なドローコード式、そして税込¥9680-のリーズナブルプライス。です😉

Finding the perfect pair of pants isn’t easy. The Motion Pants are daily wear designed around what feels just right to us.

The tapered fit not too wide, with just the right amount of room is one example of that sweet spot. Comfortable and easy to ride in, without looking too casual. We kept refining every detail with that sense of “just right” in mind, and ended up with a pair of pants you can wear year-round.

The fabric is durable but not heavy, with breathability considered as well, making them especially great for this time of the year, when the weather can’t quite make up its mind.

We just got 7 new colors of these pants. A bright orange, pale lavender and more… There are now 12 colors in total in the lineup!

For the material, we used Taslan nylon, like our Bike Shorts with mesh fabric lined pockets, easy-to-adjust internal belt & buckles and drawstrings at the hem. The price is 56.39USD.

In stores (BL Hatagaya & Friday) : 12:00 PM (2:00PM for Friday) JST on Friday, August 28th.
Online (BL & Friday) : 7:00 PM JST on Tuseday, September 1st.

僕らとしても今だに信じられないコラボレーション🤯ブルーラグの20周年を記念して、アメリカのパーツメーカーであるTHOMSON社に最強コーティング Cerakote/セラコート を施したスペシャルパーツを作ってもらいました🎉

USAブランドでCNC削り出しと言われてまず思い浮かぶのがトムソン。てくらい僕らにとっては馴染み深い存在。山もストリートも日常も、どんなタフなシチュエーションも涼しい顔で走りを支えてくれるパーツ達には皆厚い信頼を寄せています

今回ご用意したのは４ボルトのオープンクランプステム”X4”と、2本締めのセットバック&ストレートシートポスト、シートクランプの各サイズ

名付けてTRAFFIC GRAY。インダストリアルなマットグレーが東京のコンクリートを連想させるので。特に耐摩耗、耐衝撃に優れているので自転車部品には理想的なCerakote。アノダイズドのブラックやポリッシュカラーには無い特別な雰囲気を楽しんで頂けたら

The collaboration we still can’t believe ourselves is going live on our website today at 7:00 p.m. JST🤯

For those who missed our previous post regarding our collaboration with Thomson, they gave us an opportunity to work together on a Cerakoted component collection to celebrate our 20th anniversary.

Thomson has been the brand that we instantly think of when we hear the term “CNC machined”, for a long time. Whether you’re riding in the streets or in the mountains, Thomson parts had always kept us riding in various tough situations, so we are very honored for this project.

They created the X4 stems, setback & straight Elite Seatposts and seatpost clamps. We named this color “Traffic Gray” since it reminds us the asphalt of Tokyo.

Obviously, this is a limited run, so don’t be shy and grab ‘em if you can!
