23/09/2026

Today, World Deaf Rugby joins the global Deaf community in celebrating the International Day of Sign Languages. 🤟🌍🏉

Proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 2017, September 23 commemorates the founding of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) in 1951.

This day celebrates the importance of sign languages, Deaf culture and the right of Deaf people to communicate and participate fully in society.

For World Deaf Rugby, it is also an opportunity to recognise the importance of communication, inclusion and equal opportunities in sport.

Together, we continue to promote rugby and create opportunities for Deaf people around the world. 🏉💙
