Hakuba plays host to adventure all year round - and these amazing participants in the recent OMM JAPAN orienteering event didn't let a summer thunderstorm dampen their spirits as they navigated around the valley, running and biking, and seemingly always smiling, all the way to the finish line at Hakuba47 Mountain Resort 🚴♂️🏃♀️🗺️

Taking time to slow down as we head towards next season, Happo Ike and its snow melting mark the start of summer.
A short hike using boardwalks through the delicate alpine ecosystem of the national park, fresh cool air spending slow time watching the snow melt in the pond. Just like winter, heading up early gives the best chance of good condition - to catch the classic reflection of Hakuba's peaks .

Hakuba gathered to celebrate its most decorated winter Olympian Akito Watabe 渡部暁斗 at the iconic ski jumps - taking his jump at the same venue that inspired him to start ski jumping as child watching the Nagano Olympics in his home village!
Not resting on his laurels with 4 Olympic medals in Nordic Combined 🥈🥈🥉🥉but looking to the future of Hakuba, the event brought together junior ski clubs from Hakuba and beyond, alongside Olympians past and present, to think about how the next generation can both learn from their successes and think about the environmental challenges to winter sports - powering the lift for Akito's last jump with electricity generated with pedal power! 💪
A huge thank you to everyone involved for this joyous and forward-thinking event for the next generation of skiers in Hakuba!
