みんなが雪を待ち遠しく思う頃、僕らは北海道の暑い夏の工場で汗を流しています。

一本一本、地元・北海道の木を使い、自分たちの手で、一歩ずつ形にしていく。

どこか別の工場でつくられたものではありません。

毎日雪のことばかり考えているスノーボーダーたちが、小さな工場で一本ずつ向き合いながらつくっています。

It Takes Science…🪐

Every Island core starts close to home…🌳

We build our cores from locally sourced, knot-free, straight-grain Hokkaido hinoki, reinforced with ash stringers. The result is a core that’s light, strong, responsive, and built to retain its lively feel season after season.

Because our wood is harvested and processed here in Hokkaido, it never has to travel halfway around the world before becoming a snowboard. From forest to factory, it stays in the same environment, helping create a more stable and consistent core.

We’re sharing these details because every material, every process, and every decision shapes the board beneath your feet. There’s a lot more that goes into building a snowboard than most people ever get to see—and we’re looking forward to taking you behind the scenes.

一本のボードづくりは、プレス機に入るずっと前から始まっています。

Islandのコアに使っているのは、北海道の森から切り出された節のないヒノキと、タモのストリンガー。軽く、しなやかで、何シーズン滑り込んでも、そのボードらしい反発や感覚をできるだけ長く保てる素材を選んでいます。

木材はすべて北海道で調達し、そのまま北海道で製材・乾燥・加工まで行います。海外から木材を運ぶのではなく、ずっと同じ環境で育ってきた木を、その土地でボードへと形にしていく。それが、私たちのものづくりです。

完成した一本だけを見ても、伝わらないことはたくさんあります。

だからこれからは、ボードそのものだけではなく、その背景にある素材や工程、そして日々のものづくりも少しずつ紹介していきます。

“こんにちはぁ〜!!! 今回、そのアイランドスノーボードのリーバーブっていうボードに乗らせてもらいました。全体的な板のフレックスは、ディープサイクと同じぐらい、ちょっと硬めなフレックスです。なんですけど、ウェストが少し細くなっている分、板が立ち上がりやすかったり、カービングするのにすごくやりやすいボードだなっていうふうに感じました。乗ってて、すごく気持ちいい板です。あと、テールがスワローテイルになってるんで、壁とかでスラッシュを上げるときにすごく抜けが良くて、遊ぶのにももってこいな板だなって思っています。”

“Konichiwaaaaa!, I had the chance to ride the new upcoming Island Reverb. For me overall, the flex feels about the same as the Deep Psych — maybe a bit on the stiffer side, but because the waist is slightly narrower, the board transitions from edge to edge faster and easier easily. I found it really intuitive and enjoyable to carve on. It’s simply a really satisfying board to ride. With the swallowtail shape, it releases nicely on slashes off banks and walls. I think it’s the perfect board for getting playful on and having fun. Stay punk rock!!! Have a nice day…”
