In today’s foreign exchange currency trading, the US dollar gained five cents to close at $159.70 and the Euro gained 31 cents to close at $185.68. Meanwhile, the Canadian dollar lost 44 cents to close at $113.79 and the British Pound gained 25 cents to close at $213.96.

A church secretary who allegedly fraudulently converted $2.5 million entrusted to her by her bishop for safekeeping appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court last Thursday, where she handed over what she said was the remaining $372,000 owed. Alecia Livermore, who served as secretary for the church's online ministry, was arrested and charged earlier this year with fraudulent conversion.

Nearly two years after being convicted for the contract-style killing of his wife, Simone Campbell-Collymore, and the murder of her driver, Omar Collymore is set to face trial over an alleged gun attack on his former lover. Collymore and his four alleged accomplices are to be tried in the Home Circuit Court for conspiracy to murder, shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm.

A policeman who was injured after crashing his car into a wall along New Road in Clarendon last month has died. District Constable Nathaniel McKenzie, who was assigned to the Clarendon Police Division, passed away today, the Jamaica Constabulary Force reported.

Detectives in St Catherine and St Ann are investigating a home invasion in which armed robbers allegedly stole $10 million from a St Catherine couple before using their debit cards to make unauthorised transactions amounting to $500,000 in St Ann. The police report that about 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, a 51-year-old businessman returned to his home in Pleasant Farm, St Catherine, when he was confronted by two armed men.

The St Thomas police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as 47-year-old vendor Valmore Anthony Henry, otherwise called 'Scabo', of Danvers Pen in the parish.
