It is pretty much Farmers boys against Farmers girls with a few others thrown in.
What a way to end the season. Friday night lights with bar open and bbq lit for byo food.

Weekend round-up.

Farmers 1st XI entertained RGA Walkovers Cricket Club at Farmers Field in the CI League on Saturday and eased their way to victory after recent disappointments against the boys in blue.

The visitors were missing a few who beat us on the way to the T20 final last weekend, and having won the toss opted to bat.
The Farmers attack never let them settle into a rhythm and took regular wickets on the way to bowling the side out in the 36th over for 134.
The returning Will Perchard was first to strike getting the prized wicket of Van Der Walt caught behind in the 3rd over before doubling up with another caught behind of Corbel 2 balls later.
Stingray picked up a brace and Toby a 3fer.

In reply, Wray (36) opened with Sol proving what a versatile cricketer he is, and the pair put on 37 for the first wicket before Smithy (52*) in at 4 took real control as we cruised to victory by 6 wickets with just under 10 overs remaining.

Meanwhile at FB2 on the mat, our 3rd XI were up against Walkovers Social.
Having won the toss we opted to bat and all was progressing well until a spell of 'moon ball' bowling by captain Stephen Tyler undid us as we went from a comfortable 133/4 in the 23rd to all out for 167.
The one highlight of the innings was a measured and deserved maiden 50 for Callum Smith who batted with maturity and composure.
As a unit we bowled and fielded well to take 7 wickets amongst the 8 bowlers used with George Church picking up a 2fer on debut.

On Sunday our T2 MCMJ side faced a strong Chirpy's Cricket Club Comets' side that were unbeaten over the season.
We bowled and fielded well to take 4 wickets as they posted 152/4.

In reply, George (15) and Oli (ret'd 31*) did well to keep the score moving, but too many dot balls saw us finish well-short of the required total to lose by 68 runs.
There was an impressive debut by new signing Mylo (1 wicket and 1 superb catch) and first games of the season at this level for the Dam brothers and Izaak, so plenty of positives to work on.

Two games going on today.
1st XI play RGA Walkovers Cricket Club (again!). This time it is in the CI League, and its at Farmers Field from 11am.

Also today our 3rd XI are in action at FB2 in a 35 over game vs RGA Walkovers Cricket Club Social XI.

The bar will be open at Farmers Field, and what better place to spend the afternoon in the sun.

Weekend round up.

Our 1st XI played the semi-final fixture of the Premiership T20 against RGA Walkovers Cricket Club looking to progress to the final against OVs, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be.

Going into the day as reigning champions and having won the toss and electing to bowl, the mood in the camp was positive.
We opened with SVB and George Richardson who kept things tight before Rico picked up the wickets of both openers before the end of the 4th and with the score on 29. Robin Carnegie was the next man in, but he departed soon after to the returning Stan Norman, and it was left to the middle partnership of Van de Walt and Captain Birrell who both laid down markers and helped the 'home side' to post a total of 127.

Joel and Stan started the reply in a positive fashion before both falling to catches. Chuggy was then out lbw to one that could have been going over and things were looking less certain. Jack Kemp, Rico and 'Iceman' Bradley all failed to trouble the scoreboard, but with Scott Van Breda at the crease there was always hope.
Armand did well in posting 19 and helped the score along before Rhys entered the fray, and for a while things looked very doable, but when SVB fell for 34 and still needing 29 from 3 overs things became fraught and we were bowled out still 22 runs short.

Playing two games on a day is a big ask in the heat, and despite posting a good total of 151 in the final Walkovers weren't able to hold off a strong chase by OVs who went on to claim the title. Congratulations to them.

The other game taking place on Saturday was at Farmers Field where our 3rd team hosted OVs in a 35 over game.
Farmers won the toss and elected to bat. The top 5 all posted decent scores with Joe Asplet (50) and Stefan (53) both retiring. Erin on her return hit a quick 9 and Will Casson debut 7 as we finished on 274.

The total was always likely to be a big ask, and the bowling unit did what they needed to do to close out a win by 174 runs.
Wickets were shared between the 7 bowlers used with debutant Will Casson picking up his 2nd of the afternoon to finish the game.

A great evening last night hosting the Seymour Hotels of Jersey at Farmers Field.

We managed to get through 54 overs in total… a T10 a T12 and a T5 Final!

A huge thank you to Jimmy for preparing the pitch and sorting all the kit beforehand.
Thanks to our Social XI captain Ric who put this together for the group as well as to Paul Sabin, Rhys and Lawro who were brilliant in helping everything run smoothly.

Cricket really was the winner, with lots of happy faces.

This is the 2nd year that Seymour have run a social event at the Club, and we reciprocate in bar takings by using the Pomme d'Or for our Annual Cricket Awards Dinner. - A great partnership based on hospitality and inclusion.

Finals day for the Prem T20 today and our 1st XI face-off against RGA Walkovers Cricket Club in the semifinal this morning at 10.30 to decide who will play OVs in the final this afternoon.

Meanwhile our 3s play OVs at Farmers Field in a 35 over game from noon. - Bar will be open as usual.

Our 1st XI played two T20s, winning one and securing a spot for finals day.
RGA Walkovers Cricket Club were the first opponents who, having won the toss elected to bat.
The bowling unit did well to pick up early wickets and continued to chip away at the visitors before the middle-order took them to a total of 147/5 from their 20 overs.
The reply just didn't get going as wickets fell, with the only real resistance came from Scott Van Breda (33 off 25) and Adam Bradbury (20* off 22) as we came up short to lose by 47 runs.

In the afternoon we took on OVs who also won the toss and elected to bat.
Scott took the early wicket of Brennan, caught by Chuggy whilst at the other end Ed Giles (36 off 11) was on a charge, but when he fell wickets kept coming and were shared out amongst the attack.
The chase went to plan after the early loss of Chuggy as both Choppers (32) and Smithy (27) kept things moving ahead of the required rate. George Richardson (21*), in at 6 then took up the baton and saw us home with 2 1/2 overs to spare.

Also playing on Saturday were our 3rd team who travelled to LQ2 to take on Chirpy's Cricket Club.
Having won the toss we elected to bat on the mat, and the top order all put in a shift with Bucco (42), Josh (51), Oliver French (19) and Jimmy Vallois (53* retd) keeping the scoreboard ticking along well to reach a total of 222/7.
Chirpys were very slow to get going in the face of tight bowling by the opening duo of Finn and Robbie and were always behind the required rate.
The pick of the bowlers was Josh with a 4fer when he swapped out of his pads and gloves midway through the innings, and we closed out the game to win by 56 runs.

On Sunday the 2s hosted OVs, and having been put into bat posted 128/7 from their 20 overs.
In reply, OVs got off to a flyer with both openers striking the ball cleanly to put on 87 for the first wicket.
Faudie rotated the attack using 7 bowlers, but only saw one more wicket fall as the visitors chased down the target with just under 6 overs to spare.

In other cricketing news, we were well represented as Jersey HERA took on their Guernsey counterparts in an u15 inter-insular, with no fewer than 10 girls out of the squad of 13 coming from Farmers.
Jersey batted and bowled well to secure two comfortable victories, and this bodes well for the future.
