IMPORTANT NOTICE

Dear All

The extreme hot weather this summer has caused the level of the lake to continue to drop with increasing water temperatures affecting trout in the lake.

Over the weekend, we lost a small number of Trout which succumbed to these conditions and it looks likely to be replicated as conditions prevail

This situation has been occurring in the UK, and many waters have ceased Fishing until conditions change.

Accordingly, with immediate effect, there is no Fly Fishing on the Simons Trout Lake until further notice as any Trout caught and returned would be unlikely to survive

This does not affect the main lake and the two carp ponds, as they hold no Trout and carp can handle lower oxygen levels and higher temperatures.

Val de la Mare and Queens Valley are much deeper, and the temperature is moderated, so they continue to offer good fishing, particularly at Val where water clarity is better. Catches in the last week at Val have included some Rudd, which is good breeding evidence of our stocking program to reinstate different fish to be caught on the fly and additional food sources for trout

July and August are normally the dour months for Fly Fishing, as temperatures increase and historically we’ve always looked to have Fly Fishing sessions for Bass . For those interested in joining a group session for Bass Fly Fishing please let Bob Mcginnigle know

Just to let you all know there is now an extra boat on Queens valley. It is one of the ones that have recently been restored.

The lads are back here is their story. Well done lads you gave it your best and have surprised a lot of your competitors
