Cala Saona - punta Rasa; Formentera. Spagna

NOTA BENE
Le alte temperature non sono solo una difficoltà per gli escursionisti ma anche una dura prova per i telefoni incaricati di eseguire il tracciamento degli itinerari. In questo caso la registrazione si è bloccata per ben due volte e alla fine ho desistito. L’itinerario che descrivo è quello completo, e cioè la passeggiata da cala Saona a punta Rasa e ritorno. Il riferimento va a entrambi i percorsi Wikiloc “Cala Saona - punta Rasa” (1 e 2). I waypoint da 1 a 3 sono nella traccia 1; I waypoint 4-6 nella seconda traccia.

Cala Saona è una delle poche spiagge di Formentera che assume propriamente il nome di Cala, l’unica insenatura con al fondo una spiaggia di sabbia. Le scogliere rossastre, la sabbia chiara e l’esposizione a ovest perfetta per godersi il tramonto ne fanno una destinazione molto bella. Oggi però la concentrazione di resti di poseidonia annerivano il turchese delle acque e le intorbidivano, fornendo un incentivo a fuggire in esplorazione. Abbiamo optato a raggiungere punta Rasa, il bel promontorio che chiude la Baia verso sinistra. Esso prende tale nome perché la sua sommità è perfettamente piatta e priva di vegetazione, ma la scogliera si erge imponente dal mare e offre scorci pittoreschi. Sulla strada si incontrano delle piccole costruzioni che sono monumento storico (credo case di pescatori), oltre ai tipici “escars”, le rimesse per barche dotate di rotaie per calarle in acqua. Dopo aver esplorato la punta, dove oltre al panorama si gode di un bel venticello e, volendo, di uno spettacolare tramonto, si torna indietro più o meno sullo stesso sentiero. Fatta con Dario Odifreddi il 3 agosto 2026, circa 1,8 km. [VARIANTE: Volendo allungare la passeggiata facendo un anello, è possibile, dopo aver raggiunto la punta, proseguire lungo la scogliera verso sud, fino a raggiungere una pista che piega verso l’interno. Girare a sinistra quando si incontra una stradina che attraversa la pineta e raggiunge il punto di partenza, percorrendo poco più di due km].

MODERATA
anche dove non c’è il sentiero la progressione è facile perché il percorso è quasi piano è molto facile da intuire. Tuttavia si cammina sulla tipica roccia di Formentera fatta di strati diversi che obbligano a guardare bene dove mettere i piedi. Tenete anche presente che i bordi della scogliera non sono protetti da alcuna staccionata.

AVVICINAMENTO
Si parte dalla spiaggia di Cala Saona, che è dotata di un comodo parcheggio con servizi pubblici.

ITINERARIO
Si parte dalla spiaggia salendo dal passaggio (1) che c’è tutto a sinistra (guardando il mare), dietro al chiosco per il noleggio dei kajak. Alla fine della salita si incontra un parcheggio e subito dopo delle casette antiche (2). Aggirarle sulla destra per godersi la vista sulla spiaggia e poi proseguire sul bordo della scogliera (3). Avvicinandosi alla punta (4) si osserva quanto la sommità piatta contrasti con la verticalità delle scogliere. Raggiunta punta Rasa (5) si ammira il panorama verso sud, dove il sentiero prosegue [cfr itinerario alternativo spiegato nella presentazione]. Si ritorna lungo la costa apprezzando ancora il panorama sulla baia (6) e tagliando all’interno delle casette.

High temperatures are not only a challenge for hikers but also a real test for the phones responsible for tracking routes. In this case, recording froze twice, and I finally gave up. The itinerary I'm describing is the complete one, that is, the walk from Cala Saona to Punta Rasa and back. The reference is to both Wikiloc routes "Cala Saona - Punta Rasa" (1 and 2). Waypoints 1-3 are on track 1; waypoints 4-6 are on track 2.

Cala Saona is one of the few beaches on Formentera that truly takes the name of Cala, the only cove with a sandy beach at its end. The reddish cliffs, pale sand, and western exposure, perfect for enjoying the sunset, make it a very beautiful destination. Today, however, the concentration of Posidonia oceanica remains has darkened the turquoise waters and clouded them, providing an incentive to escape and explore. We opted to head to Punta Rasa, the beautiful promontory that borders the bay on the left. It gets its name from its perfectly flat summit, devoid of vegetation, but the cliff rises imposingly from the sea and offers picturesque views. Along the way, you'll encounter small buildings that are historical monuments (I believe fishermen's houses), as well as the typical "escars," boathouses equipped with rails for lowering boats into the water. After exploring the point, where, in addition to the view, you can enjoy a nice breeze and, if you like, a spectacular sunset, you return more or less along the same path. Taken with Dario on August 3, 2026, about 1.8 km. [VARIATION: If you'd like to extend the walk by making a loop, you can, after reaching the point, continue along the cliff towards the south until you reach a path that bends inland. Turn left when you come to a small road that crosses the pine forest and reaches the starting point, traveling just over two km.]

MODERATE
Even where there is no path, progression is easy because the route is almost flat and very easy to follow. However, you walk on typical Formentera rock, made of different layers, which forces you to carefully choose your footing. Also keep in mind that the edges of the cliff are not protected by any fence.

APPROACH
Start from Cala Saona beach, which has a convenient parking lot with public restrooms.

ITINERARY

Start from the beach by climbing up the passage (1) on the far left (facing the sea), behind the kayak rental kiosk. At the end of the climb, you'll find a parking lot and immediately after some old houses (2). Go around them on the right to enjoy the view of the beach and then continue along the edge of the cliff (3). As you approach the tip (4), you'll notice how the flat summit contrasts with the verticality of the cliffs. Once you reach Punta Rasa (5), you can admire the view to the south, where the trail continues [see alternative itinerary explained in the presentation]. You return along the coast, still enjoying the view of the bay (6) and cutting through the houses.

Anello alla Rocca Tovo dal Pian della M***a.

Il Pian della M***a è circondato da cime memorabili con le loro pareti, storie gloriose e ghiacciai (agonizzanti). Così non molti conoscono Rocca Tovo. Eppure è una punta aguzza, circondata da pareti verticali su tre lati. Si fa desiderare e conquistare con sentieri piuttosto ostici ma ripaga i pochi frequentatori con una vista incredibile dalla sua vetta.
Ci sono salita il 22/08 con Elena e Maddalena, con mucho gusto! Abbiamo usato il sentiero che parte dietro alla trattoria La Masinà. Un pensiero di gratitudine sincero è andato ai volontari del CAI Lanzo che lo hanno pulito e reso, se non agevole, almeno chiaramente identificabile. Invito a provarlo per evitare che, soprattutto nella parte alta, la vegetazione se lo rimangi.

Anello Rocca Rubat, Bric Castello, Punta Prarosso da Case Berter. Corio (TO)

Le valli minori sono tali non solo perché hanno una minore estensione, ma, almeno per quanto mi riguarda, sono anche meno note. Questa è la prima escursione che faccio in Val Malone. Ed è stata una bellissima sorpresa. Approfittando del clima ancora fresco, ho fatto questa gita a bassa quota che ha permesso di inanellare quattro punte diverse: Bric Cornaglia, Punta Rubat, Bric Castello, Punta Prarosso. Complice anche il tempo eccezionale con un cielo reso limpido dalle piogge dei giorni precedenti e dal vento i panorami erano bellissimi e i colori vivaci. Grandi panorami fino ai monti liguri, esplorazione, tranquillità totale (ho incontrato solo una coppia in vetta che veniva dal lato opposto). È un’escursione per escursionisti esperti, anche se la bassa elevazione potrebbe far credere i contrario. Diversi tratti sono infatti sul sentiero difficile da individuare se non scomparso del tutto; inoltre, il pezzo più bello, quello sulla cresta fra le tre punte richiede di passare su roccette ripide o un po’ esposte. Per fare l’itinerario in modo più razionale (io ho fatto un otto, percorrendo due volte il tratto fra il punto 2 e il punto 3) conviene partire da Borgata Gianinet.

Tra il difficile e il MOLTO DIFFICILE.
Il sentiero fra i punti 5 e 8 non è segnato su nessuna mappa e quindi, forse per questo, è pochissimo utilizzato. A causa di ciò, si è ridotto a un’esile traccia e nessuno ha provveduto a ripulirlo degli alberi caduti che ostruiscono il passaggio.
I tratti sulla cresta (tra il punto 8 e il punto 15) invece impongono diversi passi su roccette e ci sono alcuni passaggi un po’ aerei. Infine, il sentiero usato per scendere dal monte Prarosso (tra il punto 16 e il punto 18) praticamente non è più sentiero. Nella parte più alta è completamente scomparso, nella parte più bassa che passa nel bosco se ne intravede ancora qualche traccia che aiuta a indicare il cammino più che a camminare comodamente.

AVVICINAMENTO
Anche arrivare al punto di partenza della gita non è uno scherzo. Superato il centro di Corio e percorso il lungo rettilineo, a sinistra si diparte una stradina che sale verso le borgate. Occorre raggiungere l’ultima borgata, borgata Berter. Subito prima di entrare nella agglomerato, ci sono due o tre posti auto dove parte la’sterrata da cui inizia la gita. Il punto più adeguato per parcheggiare sarebbe in realtà leggermente più in basso, in corrispondenza del bivio con borgata Gianinet, il punto più basso dell’escursione, da dove converrebbe salire in senso inverso il sentiero che io ho percorso in discesa. Ma in quel punto si può riuscire a parcheggiare al massimo un’auto piccola. Tenete presente che la strada di salita è estremamente stretta e presenta già diversi cedimenti in alcuni punti. Va percorsa quindi con attenzione.

ITINERARIO
Prendere la stradina in salita; Al terzo tornante, tenere la sinistra (2). Poco dopo (3) girare a destra, continuando a seguire i segni fucsia e i segnavia bianchi e rossi. Si continua a salire sul sentiero fino a raggiungere una casa in pietra (5), dove si prende un sentiero poco evidente. Il sentiero inizia dietro la casa, passando subito prima della stessa e finisce al colle della Luvera (8). Si gira a sinistra verso punta Rubat (11) sulla cui cima si può salire seguendo una traccia che parte dal lato opposto (10). Tornare al colle la Luvera e proseguire sul lato opposto lungo la cresta. Si sale su un sentiero impegnativo (12) fino al pian del Cannone (13) e si arriva poco dopo al Bric Castello (14). Si continua sulla cresta scendendo in un avallamento e salendo infine alla punta Prarosso (15). Si torna poi indietro e prima di risalire verso il Bric Castello si inizia a scendere a sinistra (16) su un sentiero ormai scomparso. Si deve proseguire ad intuito (in basso a destra) fino a trovare delle tracce (17) seguendo le quali si arriva a una stradina (18) che si prende verso destra.
Là si segue fino al punto 2 e poi al punto 3 dove si prende la strada a sinistra. Si scende a sinistra quando si trova il sentiero (22) per Borgata Gianinet (23). Alla borgata andare a a sinistra sulla strada carrozzabile (24) fino a tornare al punto di partenza.

The smaller valleys are so not only because they're smaller in size, but, at least for me, they're also less well-known. This is my first hike in Val Malone. And it was a wonderful surprise. Taking advantage of the still cool weather, I took this low-altitude hike, which allowed me to take in four different peaks: Bric Cornaglia, Punta Rubat, Bric Castello, and Punta Prarosso. Thanks in part to the exceptional weather, with skies cleared by the previous days' rain and the wind, the views were beautiful and the colors vibrant. Expansive views all the way to the Ligurian mountains, exploration, and total tranquility (I only encountered one couple at the summit coming from the opposite side). It's a hike for experienced hikers, although the low elevation might suggest otherwise. Several sections are on the trail, making it difficult to find if not completely lost; furthermore, the most beautiful section, the one on the ridge between the three peaks, requires navigating steep or slightly exposed rocks. To explore the route more efficiently (I did a figure eight, hiking the section between points 2 and 3 twice), it's best to start from Borgata Gianinet.

Between difficult and VERY DIFFICULT.
The trail between points 5 and 8 is not marked on any map and therefore, perhaps for this reason, is rarely used. Because of this, it has been reduced to a thin trail, and no one has cleared it of fallen trees that block the path.
The sections on the ridge (between points 8 and 15), however, require several steps on small rocks and there are some rather exposed sections. Finally, the trail used to descend Mount Prarosso (between points 16 and 18) is practically no longer a trail. In the highest section, it has completely disappeared, while in the lower section, which passes through the woods, some traces can still be seen, which serve to indicate the route rather than to facilitate comfortable walking.

APPROACH
Even getting to the starting point of the hike is no easy feat. After passing the center of Corio and following the long straight road, a small road branches off to the left that climbs toward the hamlets. You need to reach the last hamlet, hamlet Berter. Just before entering the hamlet, there are two or three parking spaces where the dirt road from which the hike begins begins. The most suitable parking spot would actually be slightly lower, at the junction with hamlet Gianinet, the lowest point of the hike, from where it would be best to head back up the trail I took on the descent. However, at that point, you can only park a small car at most. Please note that the uphill road is extremely narrow and has already collapsed in some places. Therefore, proceed with caution.

ITINERARY
Take the uphill road; at the third bend, keep left (2). Shortly after (3), turn right, continuing to follow the fuchsia and red and white signs. Continue climbing the path until you reach a stone house (5), where you take a faint path. The path begins behind the house, passing just before it, and ends at Colle della Luvera (8). Turn left towards Punta Rubat (11), whose summit can be reached by following a trail that starts on the opposite side (10). Return to Colle la Luvera and continue on the opposite side along the ridge. Climb a challenging path (12) to Pian del Cannone (13) and shortly after arrive at Bric Castello (14). Continue along the ridge, descending into a hollow and finally climbing to Punta Prarosso (15). Then go back and before climbing back up towards Bric Castello, begin to descend to the left (16) on a path that has now disappeared. You must continue by intuition (down to the right) until you find some tracks (17), following which you reach a small road (18) that you take to the right.
There, follow it to point 2 and then to point 3, where you take the road on the left. Descend to the left when you find the path (22) to Borgata Gianinet (23). At the hamlet, go left onto the road (24) until you return to the starting point.

Passerella panoramica di Pré Saint Didier (AO) dal Parco avventura.

A Pré Saint Didier hanno da poco costruito una passerella panoramica sospesa in alto sopra al paese. Si tratta di un’opera che alcuni potrebbero non apprezzare, ma sicuramente offre dei panorami incredibili in tutte le direzioni e persino sotto i propri piedi. L’orrido scavato dalla Dora di La Thuile appare in tutta la sua imponenza persino dalle griglie su cui si cammina. La sensazione di vuoto è notevole, malgrado gli alti parapetti. Girando gli spazi si passa poi dai teneri prati del paese ai dirupi del Monte Bianco. Insomma un posto che vale decisamente la deviazione mentre si è in zona e che permette di godere alcune sensazioni dell’alpinismo a chi non vuole o non può praticarlo. Noi oggi abbiamo optato per l’itinerario più semplice e breve, mentre eravamo di passaggio, ma le prossime volte organizzeremo sicuramente un’escursione in senso proprio. [Si possono per esempio realizzare un anello che parte dal paese, oppure rientrare a monte del parco avventura attraverso un sentiero diverso; i cartelli indicavano anche un’area archeologica].

FACILE il sentiero di avvicinamento è veramente facile. Chi ha le vertigini probabilmente dovrebbe evitare la destinazione e basta.

AVVICINAMENTO
Si parte dal primo parcheggio del Parco avventura di Pré Saint Didier (1). L’accesso al parco si trova verso monte, fra due gallerie, subito dopo che salendo si sono finiti i tornanti e la strada spiana un po’.

ITINERARIO
Dal parcheggio salire lungo la strada sterrata. Quando questa piega a sinistra, prendere a destra una stradina pedonale (2) che scende parallela all’orrido (3) e costeggiando il parco avventura (9). Arrivati a una costruzione dove parte la skyline (4), prendere il sentiero a sinistra della casetta arrivando dopo pochi metri alla passerella (5, 6, 7). Uscire dal lato opposto della passerella, prendere il sentiero che scende verso Pre Saint Didier (8) ma dopo pochi metri girare a sinistra per recuperare il sentiero dell’andata. Tornare al punto di partenza.

In Pré Saint Didier, they recently built a panoramic walkway suspended high above the village. It's a feat some might not appreciate, but it certainly offers incredible views in all directions, even beneath your feet. The ravine carved out by the Dora di La Thuile River appears in all its grandeur even from the gratings you walk on. The feeling of emptiness is remarkable, despite the high parapets. Circling the space, you then pass from the village's lush meadows to the crags of Mont Blanc. In short, a place definitely worth the detour while in the area, offering a taste of mountaineering for those who don't want to or can't do it. Today, we opted for the simplest and shortest route while we were passing through, but next time we'll definitely organize a hike in the proper sense. [For example, you could make a loop starting from the village, or return above the adventure park via a different path; the signs also indicated an archaeological area.]

EASY: The approach trail is really easy. Those with vertigo should probably just avoid the destination.

APPROACH
Start from the first parking lot of the Pré Saint Didier Adventure Park (1). The access to the park is located uphill, between two tunnels, immediately after the hairpin bends on the way up have ended and the road flattens out a bit.

ITINERARY
From the parking lot, climb up the dirt road. When it bends to the left, take a small pedestrian path on the right (2) that descends parallel to the gorge (3) and runs alongside the adventure park (9). When you reach a building where the skyline begins (4), take the path to the left of the house, arriving after a few meters at the footbridge (5, 6, 7). Exit on the opposite side of the footbridge and take the path that descends towards Pre Saint Didier (8), but after a few meters, turn left to rejoin the outward path. Return to the starting point.

A nord di Formentera si trova la sua principale meraviglia, in un’isola comunque fortunata, circondata da spiagge bellissime. Una stretta pen*sola si protende verso l’isola di Ibiza, circondata da acque basse di colore turchese. Si tratta probabilmente di una costellazione di isolette di roccia che nel tempo sono state collegate dalla sabbia. E il processo non è ancora finito: dall’isola di Espalmador delle sottili lingue di sabbia si protendono verso il promontorio. Forse i nostri nipoti la vedranno collegata al promontorio!
Alla fine della pen*sola si trova uno stretto canale che la divide dall’Isola di S'Espalmador. Se le condizioni lo permettono (marea non troppo alta, assenza di onde eccessive) si può attraversare guadando. Si tocca sempre ma all’inizio l’acqua arriva al petto. Più avanti seguendo un itinerario ad arco segnalato dalla presenza delle onde, l’acqua è bassa ma in quel punto si incontrano le onde che arrivano dai due lati. Ci sono dunque correnti forti e onde che spruzzano. Va quindi segnalato che l’attraversamento resta difficile e richiede un bello sforzo supplementare persino quando le condizioni sono ottime (ma ne vale la pena!)

Platja de Ses Illetes occupa il litorale ovest della pen*sola, mentre la serie di lidi a est prende il nome di Platja de Llevant (cfr. l’itinerario “Platja de Llevant e Platja Ses Salines da Las ;Salinas. Formentera, Spagna” 5). Tutto il promontorio fa parte della zona protetta del Parco delle Saline di Ibiza e Formentera e, per questa ragione, l'ingresso è a pagamento per i veicoli a motore, con tariffe variabili a seconda dei periodi (7€ in alta stagione) mentre è gratuita per coloro che vi arrivano a piedi, in bici, in taxi o tramite autobus. Poiché gli accessi vengono chiusi quando i parcheggi si riempiono, ciò contingenta in qualche modo le presenze evitando il sovraffollamento persino in alta stagione.
La spiaggia di Ses Illetes è la prima che si trova a sinistra e non si tratta di un'unica spiaggia, ma di due arenili collegati da un istmo di sabbia che porta all'Illa des Forn, un piccolo isolotto che può essere esplorato facilmente a piedi.
Le due spiagge sono dette di "Ses Illetes" perché hanno di fronte appunto degli isolotti che le contraddistinguono. La prima che si incontra dopo aver pagato l'ingresso al chioschetto, è la più iconica, caratterizzata dall'aver di fronte l'Illa des Conills. Proseguendo oltre, fino al ristorante Es Ministre, si trova invece l'ultimo parcheggio, che conduce alla seconda spiaggia, con di fronte gli altri due isolotti, l'Illa des Forns e l'Illa de Tramuntana. Dall’ultimo parcheggio la passeggiata prosegue verso nord e conduce a Es Pas, la punta estrema della pen*sola di Es Trucador, che si affaccia sulla bellissima isola di S'Espalmador. Lungo il percorso si percorre la pen*sola che separa i due litorali di Ses Illetes a ovest e di Llevant a est e si incontrano innumerevoli lidi e calette, alcune delle quali decisamente tranquille. È consigliabile portarsi dietro tutto, ombrellone, acqua e cibo se si vuole pranzare in spiaggia, perché non ci sono stabilimenti balneari e i bar/ristoranti presenti sono molto cari. Si incontrano diversi gabbiani famelici anche se simpatici e non aggressivi.
Infine, se come noi, vi dedicherete a esplorare tutta la pen*sola, munitevi di abbondante acqua crema solare ad alta protezione, cappellino e occhiali perché i raggi del sole sono molto forti ed è fondamentale proteggersi. Lungo la pen*sola non ci sono servizi.
Nella maggior parte della pen*sola ci sono due (o più) tracce: una costeggia il mare e le varie calette ed è molto pittoresca. L’altra è centrale e diretta e l’abbiamo fatta per ritornare. Ricordatevi di evitare di camminare fuori sentiero, perché questo rovina il delicato ecosistema dunare.
Fatta con Dario, il 6 agosto 2026. Meno di cinque chilometri, a cui si deve però aggiungere un km per il guado all’isola e ritorno.

MODERATA non ci sono grosse difficoltà tecniche. Tuttavia non è un’escursione da sottovalutarsi. Il sole, l’assenza di punti di ristoro e di ombra ne fanno un’escursione vera e propria. La progressione alterna tratti su facili roccette ad attraversamenti di tratti sabbiosi. Le roccette sono per l’appunto facili ma richiedono comunque calzature decenti. Ho visto percorrere questo settore con qualsiasi tipo di calzature e persino coi piedi scalzi; è tutto possibile, ma ho anche visto molti ferite e piedi contusi. La distanza non è importante, ma anche la fatica non va sottovalutata; camminare sulla sabbia e decisamente più faticoso che camminare su sentiero; e anche l’attraversamento del guado, benché si tocchi, è molto faticoso a causa delle correnti.

AVVICINAMENTO
L’itinerario si svolge completamente all’interno del parco delle saline di Formentera. Pertanto l’accesso con mezzi motorizzati privati e contingentato e a pagamento.
L’accesso è gratuito prima delle nove e dopo le 18 e per chi viene a piedi, in bicicletta, con il taxi o con i mezzi pubblici. In Taxi noi abbiamo pagato 20 € partendo da Es Pujols. Ci sono due parcheggi: uno in prossimità del punto di partenza, che si riempie però molto presto essendo dedicato quasi completamente ai motorini, e uno all’altezza della spiaggia dell’isola dei conigli noi siamo partiti dal parcheggio più vicino alla punta (Es Ministre, dove c’è anche un ristorante) arrivando in taxi, mentre abbiamo sfruttato un passaggio al ritorno, perché partendo dal parcheggio più lontano (ed è per questo che al ritorno c’è un tratto sulla strada).

ITINERARIO
Dal parcheggio (1) proseguire sulla passerella che parte alla sinistra del ristorante. Attraversare una prima spiaggia (2), e poi salire sulla collinetta rocciosa successiva (3) da cui si gode un bel panorama. Attraversare ancora le due spiagge seguenti (4, 5) e poi prendere la traccia sulla destra che costeggia tante belle calette (6). Arrivati alla punta di Es Trucador (7), se volete e sulle condizioni del mare lo permettono, potete attraversare a guado il tratto di mare che separa dall’isola di s’Espalmador. Per rientrare si percorre il sentiero centrale (8), che passa più a destra, fino al punto di partenza.

North of Formentera lies its greatest wonder, on a fortunate island surrounded by beautiful beaches. A narrow peninsula juts out toward the island of Ibiza, surrounded by shallow, turquoise waters. It's likely a constellation of rocky islets that have been connected over time by sand. And the process isn't over yet: from the island of Espalmador, thin strips of sand jut out toward the promontory. Perhaps our grandchildren will see it connected to the promontory!
At the end of the peninsula is a narrow channel that separates it from the island of Espalmador. If conditions permit (not too high a tide, no excessive waves), you can wade across. You can always touch the sand, but initially the water is chest-deep. Further along, following an arc-shaped path marked by the presence of waves, the water is shallow, but at that point the waves coming from both sides meet. Therefore, there are strong currents and splashing waves. It should be noted that crossing remains difficult and requires considerable extra effort even when conditions are excellent (but it's worth it!)

Platja de Ses Illetes occupies the western coast of the peninsula, while the series of beaches to the east is called Platja de Llevant (see the itinerary “Platja de Llevant e Platja Ses Salines da Las Salinas. Formentera, Spagna”). The entire promontory is part of the protected area of ​​the Ibiza and Formentera Salt Flats Park, and for this reason, there is a fee for motor vehicles to enter, with rates varying depending on the season (€7 in high season), while it is free for those arriving on foot, by bike, taxi, or bus. Since the entrances are closed when the parking lots are full, this somewhat limits the number of visitors, preventing overcrowding even in high season.
Ses Illetes beach is the first on the left and is not a single beach, but two stretches of sand connected by a sandy isthmus that leads to Illa des Forn, a small island that can be easily explored on foot.
The two beaches are called "Ses Illetes" because they are located opposite the islets that distinguish them. The first, after paying the entrance fee at the kiosk, is the most iconic, characterized by its view of the Illa des Conills. Continuing further, up to the Es Ministre restaurant, you'll find the last parking lot, which leads to the second beach, opposite the other two islets, the Illa des Forns and the Illa de Tramuntana. From the last parking lot, the walk continues north and leads to Es Pas, the tip of the Es Trucador peninsula, which overlooks the beautiful island of S'Espalmador. Along the way, you'll pass the peninsula that separates the two coastlines of Ses Illetes to the west and Llevant to the east, and you'll encounter countless beaches and coves, some of which are very quiet. It's advisable to bring everything you need—an umbrella, water, and food—if you want to have lunch on the beach, as there are no beach facilities and the bars and restaurants are very expensive. You'll encounter several hungry seagulls, although they're friendly and non-aggressive.
Finally, if, like us, you're exploring the entire peninsula, bring plenty of water, high-SPF sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses, because the sun's rays are very strong, and protection is essential. There are no services along the peninsula.
For most of the peninsula, there are two (or more) trails: one runs along the sea and past various coves and is very picturesque. The other is central and direct, and we took it on our way back. Remember to avoid walking off the trail, as this ruins the delicate dune ecosystem.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL: Please consult my profile for information on my personal difficulty rating.
MODERATE: There are no major technical difficulties. However, it's not a hike to be underestimated. The sun, the lack of refreshment points, and the lack of shade make it a true hike. The progression alternates between easy rocky sections and sandy crossings. The rocky sections are easy, but still require decent footwear. I've seen this section hiked with any type of footwear, even barefoot; anything is possible, but I've also seen many injuries and bruised feet. The distance isn't important, but the effort shouldn't be underestimated either; walking on sand is definitely more tiring than walking on a trail; and even crossing the ford, although you can touch it, is very tiring due to the currents.

APPROACH
The route takes place entirely within the Formentera Salt Flats Park. Therefore, access by private motorized vehicles is limited and subject to a fee.
Access is free before 9:00 AM and after 6:00 PM, and for those arriving on foot, by bicycle, by taxi, or by public transport. We paid €20 by taxi departing from Es Pujols. There are two parking lots: one near the starting point, which fills up very quickly as it is almost entirely reserved for scooters, and one near the beach on Rabbit Island. We departed from the parking lot closest to the tip (Es Ministre, where there is also a restaurant) and arrived by taxi. We took a lift on the way back, however, because we departed from the farthest parking lot (which is why there is a stretch of road on the way back).

ITINERARY
From the parking lot (1), continue on the walkway that starts to the left of the restaurant. Cross the first beach (2), then climb the next rocky hill (3) for a beautiful view. Cross the next two beaches (4, 5), then take the path on the right that runs alongside many beautiful coves (6). Once you reach the tip of Es Trucador (7), if you wish and sea conditions permitting, you can wade across the stretch of sea that separates it from the island of s'Espalmador. To return, take the central path (8), which passes further to the right, back to the starting point.
