If you’re anything like me and struggle with the bitter taste of Ayurvedic herbs, I’ve got a solution for you!
I prefer taking churnas (herbal powders) over capsules because they’re much more potent, but the taste can definitely be off-putting. While honey is a common carrier, it isn’t always the right fit—and unlike honey, which shouldn’t be heated because it creates ama (toxins).
My go-to is date syrup.
In my Middle Eastern culture, date syrup is a staple natural sweetener. But from an Ayurvedic perspective, it’s also the ultimate carrier: it’s cooling, deeply nourishing, balancing for Vata, and completely masks those harsh bitter and astringent flavors.
Mix your daily herbs with a spoon of date syrup—or stir it into a warm drink—and turn your herbal routine into a treat. 🍯🌿
