In Sequoia’s story, the pursuit of quality has always been a true obsession.

Sequoia was born in a basement, but over the years I’ve had the opportunity to produce in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, California, Thailand and Australia, as well as visit manufacturing companies and production facilities in Japan. I’ve always tried to meet different people and learn from different techniques and cultures, because I believe quality also comes from the ability to observe and learn.

This is perhaps one of the most Italian aspects of Sequoia: the pursuit of excellence, attention to detail, and the desire to create an ever-better product. It is also why, from the very beginning, I chose to collaborate with some of the best manufacturing companies in the world.

For several years now, our main production has been based in Portugal. A choice driven by quality, expertise and, above all, a mindset that I feel is very close to the Italian one.

The Portuguese, besides having a strong surf culture, are deeply proud of their work and their products. They genuinely care about doing things well. Criticism is taken very seriously, not as an offense, but as something to understand and, when necessary, correct.

And this is precisely the attitude I consider essential for improvement: never settling for what we did yesterday, acknowledging a mistake when there is one, and constantly looking for a way to do something new, more precise and better.

In the end, it’s all very simple: quality exists to help us do better what we love.

And as surfers, we all want the same thing: to surf better.

Carbon fiber on the bottom, natural cork on the deck.

This combination was developed to achieve a precise balance between responsiveness and comfort. At Sequoia Surfboards, we’ve always preferred real progress over marketing.

We were among the first to bring CFD technology into surfboard development, not because it was fashionable, but because we believed it could help us understand, improve and build better boards.

That belief hasn’t changed.

We continue to study, test and develop new ideas every day. And when a new technology truly helps create a better surfboard, not just a better story, we’ll be ready to use it.

Progress takes patience.

We’ll keep looking ahead, keep questioning, keep building, and keep chasing the next real improvement.

The future isn’t created by rushing. It’s created by never stopping.

Performance never happens by chance.

As a former professional athlete, I learned that people chasing performance see details differently. Sensitivity, materials, response, feeling. Small things make the biggest difference.

That mindset is something I share with athletes competing at the highest level: always looking for something that performs better, responds faster and creates a stronger connection.

That is also why Sequoia chose a different path: technology, research and carbon, not for marketing, but to build boards that are more reactive, precise and performance-driven. We started building carbon boards long before it became a trend again or larger brands returned to using it, because for us it has always been about performance first.

From mountains to the ocean, the playground changes. The mindset stays the same.

Great to see performance-minded athletes appreciating innovation and pushing boundaries in every environment.

Tommaso Pardini , in the world of surf photography, is the guy who never played by the rules.
