๐ฌ๐ง ONE WEEK AFTER THE 17th SPRING DRAGON WUSHU INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT
One week has passed since the conclusion of the 17th Spring Dragon Wushu International Tournament.
A week that has allowed me to stop, reflect, and look back on everything we experienced together.
And the more days pass, the more I realize that this was, without any doubt, the most beautiful, intense, and meaningful edition in our history.
568 athletes.
63 teams.
Judges and Athletes from 30 nations.
Important numbers, of course.
But those who know me also know that I have never measured the value of an event by the number of participants alone.
A tournament should be judged by the quality of its organization.
By the quality of its equipment.
By the quality of its judges.
By the quality of the experience it leaves in the hearts of the people who take part.
And this year we reached a level that makes me deeply proud.
Especially because, let's be honest, this edition took place under particular circumstances.
During the exact same dates as our event, three other competitions were organized in Italy.
A situation that many people noticed.
Something that could have created difficulties for any organization.
Yet the exact opposite happened.
The Spring Dragon grew once again.
Stronger.
More international.
More respected.
More authoritative.
Because credibility cannot be bought.
Credibility is built.
Year after year.
Through hard work.
Through consistency.
Through sacrifice.
Through investment.
Through respect for people.
Through transparency.
Through passion.
And this is probably why today the Spring Dragon is considered by athletes, coaches, officials, and judges from around the world to be one of the most important Open Wushu tournaments in the world.
An achievement that does not belong to me alone.
It belongs to all of you.
To every athlete who stepped onto the carpet or platform and gave everything they had.
To every master who spent months preparing their students.
To every coach who stood beside their athletes every second of the competition with professionalism, responsibility, and dedication.
To every family who invested time, money, and energy to allow their children to experience something special.
During those three days, I witnessed something that no statistic will ever be able to describe.
I saw genuine emotions.
I saw children trembling before stepping onto the competition area.
I saw athletes crying tears of joy.
I saw defeats accepted with dignity.
I saw victories shared with opponents.
I saw friendships born between people speaking different languages but united by one common language: Wushu.
I saw respect.
I saw fairness.
I saw the authentic passion that connects all of us.
And that is what truly moves me.
Because medals eventually end up in a display case.
Rankings are archived.
Results are forgotten.
But emotions remain.
Memories remain.
People remain.
And this year, all of you gave us unforgettable emotions.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our outstanding international judges.
Once again, we had the honor of welcoming some of the finest judges in the international Wushu community.
And I would like to reaffirm a principle that has always been fundamental to me:
Not just anyone officiates at the Spring Dragon.
This has never been about prestige.
It is about respect for the athletes.
Anyone who steps onto a competition area after months or years of preparation deserves competence, professionalism, and integrity.
They deserve credible judging.
They deserve a real competition.
Just as they deserve world-class facilities.
That is why we have continued to invest.
This year we added:
โ
1 new official WESING Taolu carpet
โ
1 new official WESING Sanda carpet
โ
Tablets for all Taolu and Sanda judges
These additions complement the equipment already in place:
โ
1 official WESING Taolu carpet
โ
1 official WESING raised Sanda platform
Because growth is not announced.
It is demonstrated.
With actions.
Always.
Personally, I have never needed to inflate numbers.
I have never needed to use exaggerated titles.
I have never needed to proclaim world championships.
I have never needed to create something that does not exist.
I have never needed to please everyone at any cost.
I have always preferred to let people, facts, and time speak for themselves.
Because in Wushu, just as in life, substance always wins over propaganda.
The Spring Dragon has grown because it was built upon a genuine love for Wushu.
Not upon slogans.
Not upon illusions.
Not upon promises.
But upon daily work.
Continuous study.
Research.
Investment.
International relationships built with seriousness and respect.
A constant commitment to offering athletes the very best possible experience.
And above all, upon the trust that thousands of people have placed in us over the years.
I would also like to express a special thank you to the citizens of Catanzaro.
For three days, our city welcomed delegations from 30 nations.
And once again, Catanzaro showed its very best side.
Many international guests contacted me after returning home to express their appreciation not only for the competition itself, but also for the warmth, hospitality, kindness, and atmosphere they experienced in our city.
For three days, Catanzaro became an international capital of Wushu.
And that is something we should all be proud of.
My sincere thanks go to the PWKA, which continues to support and develop this international project.
Thank you to the Municipality of Catanzaro for believing in the sporting, cultural, and tourism value of this event.
Thank you to the Regional Council of Calabria for its attention and support.
Thank you to all our sponsors who chose to support this event and contribute to its growth.
Thank you to the Xenia Hotel Network for the outstanding work carried out in welcoming our international delegations.
Thank you to the Association of Chinese Entrepreneurs in Calabria for continuing to support our efforts to promote Chinese culture and Wushu.
Thank you to my incredible staff.
Thank you to our volunteers.
Thank you to our collaborators.
Thank you to our technical teams.
Thank you to the coaches.
Thank you to the masters.
Thank you to the families.
Thank you to the 63 teams who chose to be with us.
Thank you to the 568 athletes who gave their heart and soul on every competition area.
Thank you to the judges and Athletes from 30 nations.
Thank you to everyone who believed in the Spring Dragon.
If today this event is recognized as one of the most important Open Wushu tournaments in the world, it is because of all of you.
As for me, I will continue doing what I have always done.
Continue studying.
Continue investing.
Continue traveling to China.
Continue improving.
Continue building bridges between cultures through Wushu.
With humility.
With passion.
With transparency.
With seriousness.
Because in the end, what remains are not titles.
Not slogans.
Not words.
What remains are people.
What remains are emotions.
What remains is work done properly.
And the emotions you gave us during those three days will remain in my heart forever.
This is the true Spring Dragon.
A great international family united by the same passion.
The passion for Wushu.
With deep gratitude,
Massimo Scalzo
