At 3 a.m., .pnw and his wife left Lunch Counter at 9,400 ft, an hour later than planned as strong winds continued across Mount Adams. Three hours of firm snow brought them to Pikers Peak at 11,670 ft at sunrise. They reached the summit by 7, with Rainier, St. Helens, and Hood rising above the clouds.
