Joint Meeting of Jammu Stakeholders/Associate Members with Srinagar Associate Members/Stakeholders of JKFA

Jammu, 9th August 2026: A joint meeting of the Jammu Stakeholders/Associate Members with Srinagar Associate Members/Stakeholders of the J&K Football Association (JKFA) was held in Jammu to deliberate upon the present situation of JKFA and the way forward for restoring a democratic, united and effective football administration in Jammu & Kashmir.

The meeting discussed in detail the JKFA elections, the reasons for the elections not being conducted so far, possible solutions to resolve the existing issues, the constitutional position of JKFA, and the future course of action. Several important matters concerning the functioning, revival and development of football in Jammu & Kashmir were discussed at length.

All the Jammu stakeholders and Associate Members present in the meeting unanimously expressed their position that the JKFA elections must be conducted under the existing registered Constitution of the J&K Football Association.

It was further emphasised that, once a duly elected Executive Committee assumes office, any necessary amendments or changes to the Constitution can be considered and adopted through the proper constitutional and legal procedure.

The Jammu stakeholders unanimously resolved to remain united and firm in strengthening JKFA and protecting its constitutional framework, and extended their full support for conducting the JKFA elections through a transparent, democratic and constitutionally valid process.

The meeting also discussed with serious concern the formation of various committees and bodies by certain individuals without the consultation, participation or consent of the Jammu stakeholders and Associate Members.

The Jammu stakeholders unanimously condemned the recently formed “JKFA Revival Body” in Kashmir, stating that, in their view, the body has been constituted without a valid constitutional mandate and without the consent or participation of the Jammu stakeholders and Associate Members, and therefore cannot claim to represent the entire JKFA.

It was unanimously resolved that the Jammu Stakeholders/Associate Members do not recognise or accept the “JKFA Revival Body”, or any Chairperson, committee or body formed without the participation and consent of the Jammu stakeholders, as a legitimate representative body of JKFA.

The Jammu stakeholders further appealed to the concerned authorities, including the AIFF, to verify the constitutional legitimacy and mandate of any body claiming to represent the JKFA before accepting or recognising such representation.

The Jammu stakeholders warmly welcomed the Srinagar representatives and expressed their appreciation for their participation in the meeting. The participants agreed that the future of football in Jammu & Kashmir requires unity, mutual respect, transparency and equal participation of stakeholders from both regions.

It was also decided to work collectively towards improving and strengthening football in Jammu Province, while simultaneously working for the overall development of football throughout J&K.

The participants expressed their desire to restore the past glory of the J&K Football Association and revive its activities through a democratic, transparent and constitutionally sound system.

The meeting concluded with a collective commitment to remain united and extend full cooperation for the early conduct of JKFA elections under the existing registered JKFA Constitution, followed by the strengthening and development of football across Jammu & Kashmir.

Auqib Nabi Makes India Test Squad, Replaces Injured Bumrah

Srinagar, Aug 3rd (CNS): In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, Baramulla fast bowler Auqib Nabi has been named in India's Test squad for the first time, replacing injured pacer Jasprit Bumrah for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka starting August 15.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Nabi's inclusion after Bumrah was ruled out of the series due to injury.
With the selection, Nabi becomes only the second cricketer from Jammu and Kashmir to represent India's senior men's team after Parvez Rasool.

The 29-year-old earned the call-up following a remarkable run in domestic cricket. He claimed 104 wickets over the last two Ranji Trophy seasons, including 60 wickets in the 2025-26 edition, playing a crucial role in Jammu and Kashmir's maiden Ranji Trophy triumph.

Nabi also impressed during the recent India A tour of Sri Lanka, where he picked up six wickets in two matches against Sri Lanka A.
Bumrah's injury leaves a gap in India's pace attack ahead of the important Test series, with reports indicating the senior pacer is recovering from a recurring knee problem.
Nabi's elevation to the national squad has been celebrated across Jammu and Kashmir, with the achievement being seen as a major boost for cricket in the region and a source of inspiration for budding cricketers.
