A recent wave of orders banning camping and adventure activities in some of our most beautiful natural landscapes represents a disappointing retreat into a regulatory comfort zone. Signing a ban from an office desk is easy, doing the hard work of building sustainable infrastructure and educating the public is where real governance lies.
โWhen we close the doors to the mountains, the forests, and the open trails, we are not solving a problem we are simply shifting it.
Adventure sports, trekking, and camping are powerful, positive outlets for our youth.
They foster discipline, physical fitness, mental resilience, and a deep respect for the environment.
โBy completely shutting down these constructive spaces instead of providing a clear framework of "dos and don'ts," the administration risks leaving a void. If our youth are denied the chance to seek adventure in the light of day, the danger is that they will seek escapes elsewhereโpotentially turning to destructive habits, like drug abuse, in isolated, dark rooms.
โTrue administrative duty isn't about keeping people away from nature out of fear, it is about
โProviding proper infrastructure (designated campsites, waste disposal points, Parking areas and safety checkposts).
โIssuing clear advisory guidelines so people know how to explore responsibly.
โBuilding public awareness around environmental conservation and safety protocols.
