Jammu and Kashmir Police constable Umer Bin Rashid brought pride to the force by winning a gold medal in the Under-74 kg category at the 1st PTF India Open International Kombat Taekwondo Championship 2026 held in Srinagar.

The championship marked a historic occasion as the first-ever international taekwondo event in India organized under the aegis of the Professional Taekwondo Federation (PTF). Athletes from various regions competed in the prestigious tournament hosted in the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Displaying exceptional skill and determination, Umer Bin Rashid emerged victorious in his weight category to claim the gold medal, earning accolades from the sporting fraternity and police department alike.

Congratulating the winner, Atul Pangotra, President of the Professional Taekwondo Federation, India, lauded Umer's achievement and said his success would inspire young athletes across Jammu and Kashmir to excel in martial arts and competitive sports.
