Our journey to Lamayuru took us across highways, broken mountain tracks, changing weather, ancient traditions, and countless moments that couldn't have been planned.
When the terrain keeps changing, confidence matters. The Yokohama Geolandar gave us the freedom to focus less on the road beneath us and more on the stories waiting beyond the next bend.
Because every road has the potential to become a story.
Kashmir Off Road
Be Awesome! Long-form, experience-led storytelling from the Himalayas, focused on meaningful travel, responsibility, and life shaped by landscapes.
Sometimes the best weekends don't need an itinerary. They just need good roads, great company, fresh mountain air, and the warmth of a village that welcomes you like family.
We spent the weekend in Dudran, sharing meals, conversations, and the simple joys of slowing down together.
If you're looking to experience authentic village life in Kashmir, we highly recommend staying at a local homestay in Dudran.

Every expedition begins with a destination. What happens after that is rarely part of the plan.
This journey took us across changing roads, mountain passes, ancient traditions, unexpected encounters, and moments that reminded us why we explore in the first place.
Adventure isn't only about the terrain you cross. It's about the stories you discover, the people you meet, and the moments that stay with you long after the journey is over.

When we look back at Lamayuru, it won't only be the monastery or the mountains that come to mind.
It will be the faces. The quiet expressions. The weathered hands. The curious eyes of children. The smiles exchanged without a shared language. The people who gathered, not for us, but for a tradition that has endured for generations.
These are the moments that remind us that while landscapes may draw us to a place, it's the people who give it its soul.
Our journey to Lamayuru took us across changing landscapes, remote mountain roads, centuries-old traditions, and countless moments that couldn't have been planned. From the first light leaving Srinagar to the last light over Ladakh, every mile reminded us that the best expeditions are shaped as much by the pauses as the roads themselves.
Across highways, gravel, broken mountain tracks, and everything in between, the Yokohama Geolandar quietly did what every expedition tyre should—adapt to changing terrain, inspire confidence, and let us focus on the journey ahead.
This is our story from Lamayuru.

Every expedition begins with a route, a destination, and a plan.
But the journeys we remember are shaped by everything in between, the unexpected pauses, the roads that ask us to slow down, the people we meet, the stories that have endured for generations, and the fleeting moments that disappear almost as quickly as they arrive.

There are days in the mountains when the landscape seems to change with every passing cloud.
A burst of sunlight finds a distant peak. Dark clouds gather, only to part moments later. Golden light appears without warning, lingers for a few seconds, and quietly fades away.
No photograph can truly hold those moments. We were fortunate enough to be there when they happened.
Ladakh has a way of making you stop not because of its scale, but because of the light that brings it to life.
One journey. Countless road conditions.
From the smooth highways out of Srinagar to broken mountain roads, gravel tracks, and the remote approach to the hidden village of Zbayul, every stretch demanded something different.
For us, an expedition tyre isn't just about off-road capability. It's about adapting to changing terrain while giving you the confidence to keep moving, wherever the road leads.
That's what the Yokohama Geolandar delivered throughout this journey to Lamayuru.
We set out for Lamayuru with a destination in mind.
But somewhere along the way, the roads became conversations, the landscapes became a backdrop, and the moments we found ourselves returning to were the ones shared with people we had never met before.
Years from now, we may not remember every pass we crossed or every kilometre we drove. We will remember the child who laughed, the monk who paused to look our way, the weathered faces, the quiet smiles, and the brief moments that reminded us why we travel in the first place.
Landscapes may draw us in. People are what stay with us.
