Meghalaya’s Akash Choudhury, Kishan Lyngdoh and Arpit Bhatewara have been selected in the North East Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2026-27.

In addition, Bikash Singh Chauhan, who is a trainer with the Meghalaya Cricket Association, has been appointed as the North East team’s trainer.

The North East Zonal Selection Committee held a meeting on Wednesday to make the team selection.

15 players and 5 standbys have been chosen for the annual pre-season tournament, which will be held in Bengaluru from 23 August to 10 September.

The selection of the players was made based on their performances in the 2025-26 season. Last year, Kishan and Arpit were among the leading run-scorers for Meghalaya in BCCI domestic competitions. Kishan hit his first T20 century at the national level, while Arpit made a double century in the Ranji Trophy.

Akash, known more for his bowling prowess, is also no mug with the bat and he carved his name into the history books last season by hitting eight consecutive sixes and the fastest-ever Ranji Trophy half-century.

There are now 4 Meghalaya support staff who have taken on roles in the Assam Premier League!

The other two are coach Neetesh Sharma and physio Emidao Dhar. Our best wishes to them all

A Class Apart!

Meghalaya's Akash K Choudhury and Dipankar Barua were individually honoured at the North East Cricket Development Council (NECDC) 5th Achievers' Nite 2026 recently, wonderfully hosted by the Manipur Cricket Association.

Akash received his Special Award for his record-breaking Ranji Trophy knock against Arunachal Pradesh last year, wherein he hit the fastest-ever Ranji half-century and 8 sixes in an over.

Dipankar was adjudged Best Wicketkeeper in the Men's U-23 category.

Meghalaya also received an award for winning the U-23 Men's State A Plate Group 2025-26 title

On the occasion, the 11th NECDC Conclave was also held.

PM Santosh of Meghalaya won the fast bowling contest conducted by Rajasthan Royals. He bowled the fastest at 138 kmph. He is now traveling with the team as the net Bowler of Rajasthan Royals.....

A tough day at the ACACA Ground in Fulung, Guwahati, as our U-15 Girls fell narrowly to Mizoram by 4 wickets in today’s league fixture.

Batting first, Meghalaya posted 122/5 in 35 overs, with some gritty contributions down the order. Aviana Myrthong top-scored with a fluent 27 off 35 balls (6 fours), while Anuradha Gurung held firm with an unbeaten 25 off 44 to give the innings a solid finish.

With the ball, Aniesha Arengh was once again outstanding — figures of 2/16 in 7 miserly overs (eco: 2.29). Badphihirta L Nonglait was equally impressive with 1/9 in 5 overs, while Haphilahun Makri chipped in with 1/6.

Mizoram’s captain Remruati PC anchored their chase with a determined 66* off 100 balls, guiding her side home in 33.3 overs.

A close contest — and plenty of positives to build on.

A mesmerising spell of bowling by Aniesha Arengh (7/13) led Meghalaya to a 6-wicket victory against Sikkim in the 2nd North East Rising Cup 2026 for U-15 girls in Guwahati today.

Sikkim batted first after losing the toss and were all out for 59 in 18.2 overs (of an allotted 35) as they were unable to cope with Aniesha's excellent bowling. Meghalaya then chased down the target for the loss of 4 wickets in 14.1 overs, with Mebalapynkmen Syiemlieh's 14 being the top-score.

The entire Meghalaya team wore black armbands to honour the memory of Mr Dister Marbaniang, who passed away last week. Marbaniang was President of the East Khasi Hills Cricket Association and had been Manager to many MCA teams.
