Stop sending resumes to startups.
Do this instead.
Step 1: Read the founder's last 10 LinkedIn posts. They reveal everything. Their problems. Their growth challenges. Their next move.
Step 2: Check their website. Understand what they're building.
Step 3: Know who YOU are. Are you a Data Engineer? Product Manager? Program Manager? Project Manager? Client Partner?
Step 4: Match your skills to their growth opportunity.
Step 5: Send ONE precise message.
Not "I'm looking for a job."
But: "I noticed you're scaling to 100K users. Your data pipeline will be the bottleneck. I've built systems handling 500K concurrent users. Worth 30 mins?"
That's it.
Research. Specificity. Value.
One right message beats 50 generic applications.

Hey Instagram connect IT working professionals with me who want to move from IC role to Management roles? I believe i can help them find opportunities!
Office politics looks like winning.
It isn't.
I used to watch people play the game. Take credit. Work the room. Manage up while doing nothing real.
And for a while, it works for them. They get the promotion. The visibility. The corner seat.
Short term they win.
But politics has a shelf life. The moment the room changes, their power is gone. They built nothing real. No skill. No depth. Just noise.
I made a different choice.
I stopped spending energy on who said what in which meeting. I put it into getting better. Sharper. More valuable.
Because skill compounds. Politics doesn't.
The person who keeps upgrading becomes hard to ignore and impossible to replace. Not because they played the game. Because they outgrew it.
Protect your energy.
Let them win the meeting.
You win the decade.
“This one skill gap is keeping IT professionals stuck. And it’s not technical.”
Script:
You can be the smartest person on the team.
But if you can’t have a difficult conversation — you will stay stuck.
Either you avoid it and lose respect.
Or you go in too hard and lose trust.
Both cost you the leadership role you want.
The skill is learning to stay calm, say what needs to be said, and hold your ground without shutting people down.
That’s what leadership actually looks like.
And it can be learned.
