Advanced Online Kathak Training under Guru ji, Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj ji
Birju Maharaj Parampara is opening new advanced online Kathak training batches under the direct guidance of Guru ji, Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj (senior Kathak exponent, son of Padma Vibhushan Late Pt. Birju Maharaj ji and 8th generation of the Kalka-Bindadin tradition of the Lucknow Gharana).
These classes are intended for students who wish to advance their training with greater depth, consistency and understanding of the art through regular riyaaz and direct guidance from Guru ji himself.

The real depth of taleem is often invisible from the outside.
A large part of classical dance training happens away from the stage.
It happens in classrooms. Through daily riyaaz, repetition, observation and corrections. Through the discipline of returning every day and refining the same movements more carefully each time.
Slowly, over years of Kathak training, these ordinary classroom moments begin shaping a dancer’s understanding, awareness and relationship with the art itself.

Classical dance exams are more psychological than people realise.
An exam is both a measure of training and a measure of presence of mind.
It reflects not only how much a student knows, but also how they handle awareness, pressure, confidence and presentation in that particular moment. Sometimes students who seem quieter in class perform exceptionally well during exams, simply because they are mentally more steady and prepared in front of the examiner.
This is why exams are such a complex part of artistic training. They can never fully define a student’s journey, yet they remain an important part of it. 🌸
