Here are 8 signs your training isn’t producing muscle growth
1. No progressive overload - you’re lifting the same weights/ reps for weeks or months with no increase.
2. Weight isn’t moving on your lifts - your key numbers (bench, squat, rows) have been flat for a while.
3. Little to no soreness or fatigue, ever - this can mean the stimulus is too light (soreness isn’t required, but chronic zero-effort sessions are a flag.
4. You’re not eating enough protein or calories - muscle can’t grow without a slight surplus and enough protein (roughly 0.7-1g per Ib bodyweight).
5. Poor form / partial range of motion - momentum or half-reps reduce the actual muscle tension driving growth.
6. Sessions are too short or rushed - not enough working sets per muscle group per week (under ~10 sets/week is often too little).
7. You’re constantly switching programs - jumping routines every 1-2 weeks means no exercise gets mastered or progressively loaded.
8. Sleep and recovery are lacking - under 6 hours consistently impairs muscle protein synthesis, no matter how hard you train.

1)Endlessly tweaking your program.
chasing the ideal split, or switching routines every few weeks looking for something better means you never give any single approach long enough to actually work.
A good enough program done consistently for months will always outperform a perfect program you keep abandoning.
2)Progressive overload isn’t optional, it’s the actual mechanism. A small increase in weight, reps, or sets every session is what forces adaptation
3)Heavy compound lifts need sufficient rest to perform
your next set properly.
Cutting it short isn’t discipline, it’s just leaving reps on the table.
4 Training creates the signal for growth, but without enough protein, your body doesn’t have the resources to act on it.
5 Hypertrophy happens across a wide range of rep ranges, from heavy low-rep sets to lighter high-rep sets taken close to failure. Variety across rep ranges is more useful than hunting for a single magic number
