International Yoga Day session for the enthusiastic team of XTX Markets, Mumbai.

Workplace Wellness Through Yoga:
It’s a busy world we live in today, with increasing demands on employers and employees alike. We work long hours, often hunched over a computer. We skip meals, keep a phone glued to our ear, and seldom leave our workspace for a break. Before long, these work habits begin to take their toll on our bodies and minds in the form of stress, tension and illness. And while a mild amount of stress can help us meet deadlines, too much stress, or constant stress, can interfere with our physical and mental health. How we respond to stress can have a significant impact on our total health. Yoga can remove stress from the body and mind, both. Everyone deserves the holistic benefits of Yoga: stress relief, self empowerment, mental health and physical fitness.

Vajrasana is a holistic pose that you can slip into easily.
It is a base posture for the practice of pranayama, as well as a preparatory pose for meditation.
This is the only yoga asana you can do after eating. If you sit in Vajrasana after your meals, food gets digested well.
This asana reduces the flow of blood to the lower regions, increasing circulation to the upper parts – digestive system, lungs, and brain.

The term vajrasana comes from two Sanskrit words - vajra and asana. Vajra literally translates into a thunderbolt, referring to the mythical weapon that Indra, Lord of the Heavens, uses in Hindu mythology. This is also symbolic of strength and indestructibility.

Benefits of Vajrasana:
🔥Enhances blood circulation in the lower abdomen, improving digestion;
🔥Relieves excessive gas and pain in the stomach region;
🔥Strengthens the nerves of legs and thighs;
🔥Makes knees and ankle joints flexible;
🔥Keeps the neck and spine aligned and erect, without much effort, enabling easy energy flow in the back;
🔥Relaxes the waist and hip region, providing relief during menstrual pain.
