OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - JKAWF INDIA 12TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION EVENT 2027 / ANNUAL WINTER CAMP 2027

With immense pride and honour, JKAWF INDIA announces that our beloved & most respected Katsutoshi Shiina Shihan, 8th Dan, JKA HQ Full-Time Instructor in Tokyo, Technical Director & Executive Director of the JKA, will grace Kolkata once again.

Dates: 9th - 13th January 2027
Venue: The Circle Club, Kolkata, WB, India

Shihan will impart high-level technical guidance to the selected members of JKAWF INDIA and will conduct the official JKA Dan & Licence Examinations (Black Belt and Qualification Examinations) under the authority of JKA Headquarters.

This is a rare opportunity to train directly under a true legend of JKA Shotokan and to deepen our lifelong study of Karate-Do.

All eligible members are requested to start preparing with diligence and sincerity.

Let's be diligent in our lifelong study of Karate-Do.

A BRIEF NOTE ON KATSUTOSHI SHIINA SHIHAN

Katsutoshi Shiina Shihan – 8th Dan, JKA HQ Instructor

Born on 21st November 1961 in Tokyo, Japan, Shiina Shihan started Karate in the 5th year of elementary school and later graduated from Takushoku University – the birthplace of many JKA masters. He is a 1986 graduate of the legendary JKA Kenshusei (Instructor Training) Program.

He is currently a Full-Time HQ Instructor, Technical Director & Executive Director of JKA, Member of the Board of Directors and Committee Member of the Shihankai & Kanjikai of JKA HQ, Tokyo.

Shiina Shihan is one of the most decorated competitors in JKA history, known for his explosive kumite and razor-sharp kata.

Major Achievements:
- 9th Shoto World Cup, Tokyo 2004 – 1st Place KATA – World Champion
- JKA All Japan Championships – 1st Place KATA – 2001 & 2004
- JKA All Japan Championships – 1st Place KUMITE – 1991, 1993, 1994
- Multiple Medalist in both Kata and Kumite at All Japan & World level.

His motto: “Though my body seems not my soul is ready” – which reflects his unbreakable spirit and lifelong dedication.

He is deeply respected worldwide for his powerful technique, dynamic teaching method and his passionate guidance to the next generation.

We appeal to all association instructors of West Bengal and the neighbouring states to attend our monthly Shidoin Keiko to remain aligned with the headquarters. Instructors attending these sessions regularly found these sessions are highly educational, physically demanding and held in a very positive atmosphere. Don't miss it and please be regular.

If the numbers are high we will be happy to socialise together over a high tea after the session.

Welcome to the JKAWF INDIA MONTHLY SHIDOIN KEIKO on Sunday 26 July, 2026 at The Circle Club, Kolkata from 1 pm through 4 pm.
We are looking forward to seeing you all on time.

JKA Bangalore has announced the hosting of QUARTERLY SHIDOIN KEIKO for the branch instructors and assistant instructors operating a JKAWF INDIA branch in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Tamilnadu to be held in Bengaluru on Sunday 13th and Monday 14th September, 2026.

Association Instructors of the region are requested to start enrollment and make travel plans at the earliest.

Sunday 13th September:
1 - 3 PM: Judge Seminar
5 - 8 PM: Technical Seminar

Monday 14th September:
10 AM - 1 PM: Technical Seminar
4 - 6 PM: Theoretical Seminar

A few snaps of the DAY-1 of the "2nd All India JKA Karate Championships 2026" organised by the JKAWF INDIA, hosted by JKAWF INDIA Odisha and approved by the Japan Karate Association (JKA) at the Biju Patnayak Multipurpose Indoor Stadium, KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha on 6th June, 2026 in presence of Satoshi Takahashi Shihan from the JKA HQ Japan as the Supreme Judge of the tournament.

The inaugural ceremony of the championship was graced by Shri Asit Tripathi, (Rtd. IAS) Former Chief Secretary Govt of Odisha; Shri Sanjeeb Panda IPS Additional Director General of Police Odisha; Prof. (Dr.) Jnyan Ranjan Mohanty The Registrar of KIIT University Bhubaneswar; Somnath Palchowdhury Sensei Chairman JKAWF INDIA; Anil Sinha Sensei Chairman of the Technical Committee JKAWF INDIA; Sona Ghosh Sensei General Secretary JKAWF INDIA; Arindam Sikdar Sensei Technical Director (Systems) of the Tournament; Anil Singh Sensei President JKAWF INDIA Odisha and Dharmanshu Pandey General Secretary JKAWF INDIA Odisha.

A few nice snaps of the JKAWF INDIA ANNUAL SUMMER CAMP 2026 held in KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha hosted by the Jkawf India Odisha on 5th June 2026 led by SATOSHI TAKAHASHI Shihan from the JKA HQ. The Camp was attended by over 600 participants from 13 states of our country.

A JKA Dan Test and Licence Examination was also held by Takahashi Shihan. A total of 46 candidates have appeared for Dan Test where as Takahashi Sensei declared 35 passed. 8 candidates appeared for Licence Exams and all declared passed.

We congratulate ALL karate-ka that have participated, the host Jkawf India Odisha, KIIT - Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT University) Bhubaneswar, Association Instructors and the Parents those who were beside us all along the way making this event a great success.
