If your goal is fat loss, don’t start running for hours.

Start by preserving your muscle mass.

Here’s the simple 3-step framework:

1. Strength train 3-4 days/week
A simple full-body routine is enough. The goal is to give your body a reason to keep its muscle.

2. Eat sufficient protein
Aim for roughly 1.6-2.2g protein per kg body weight per day. Protein helps preserve muscle while dieting.

3. Stay in a calorie deficit
Eat ~25% fewer calories than your maintenance intake. This is what drives fat loss.

Do these 3 things consistently and you’ll lose body fat while keeping the muscle that supports your metabolism, strength and long-term health.

Once you’re leaner and stronger, add running on top of that foundation.

Run because you enjoy running.
Not because you’re trying to punish your body.
