Do you have trouble concentrating when playing?
Many factors contribute to this, such as:
- Distracted by opponent
- Looking too long at the ball and not moving your feet
- Or simply because you don't know where to hit
Coaches, this drill can help - though you need to be quick on your feet - your players focus and not get distracted.
Players, practice this drill to help you focus on the ball in front of you and then play the ball in the gap provided by your coach.
I'm sure as you practice it you will find your concentration levels go up.

Training juniors to construct the point from the baseline then approach and finish at the net is super important.
Most players tend to either play from the baseline and try to out-rally their opponent. Training with these methods helps them gain confidence and play with a tactic to win the point in different ways.
As they develop their game with these drills it will improve their strategies.

1. Have your coach or friend throw the ball up.
2. Catch it in the air, drop, adjust footwork, and hit.

This 3-ball drill can be done with any player level, from beginner to intermediate to advanced.
1. The player hits a forehand cross-court to the coach.
2. The player then plays the same ball with a forehand inside-out
3. Moves forward to hit a volley.
This drill mimics point play, helps juniors build the concept of point construction, and also improves their footwork.
Plus they will build the courage to move into the court and finish the point!
