A MATTER OF FAIR PLAY & THE LAWS OF THE GAME โฝ
IN THE ONGOING TOURNAMENT DFC FOOTBALL CUP KUPWARA 2026.
During our match in the DFC Kupwara Football Tournament, our team RFC Reshipora scored a goal, and our players were still celebrating when Khushal FC Sopore restarted play and subsequently scored.
We would like to highlight an important point regarding the restart. Under IFAB Law 8 โ The Start and Restart of Play, after a goal, play is restarted with a kick-off, and for every kick-off, the referee must give a signal before the ball is put into play. The Law also requires the players to be in the prescribed positions for the kick-off.
There is no provision for a โquick restartโ after a goal in the same manner as a quick free kick. A goal is followed by a kick-off, which has its own specific procedure under Law 8.
In this incident, our players did not hear or receive a clear whistle for the restart, and the team was still celebrating when the opposition took the kick-off. From our perspective, this was not a normal โquick restartโ situation.
We are posting the video so that the incident can be judged according to the official Laws of the Game, not according to personal interpretation.
We would like to ask the DFC Kupwara organizers, especially the centre referee Malik Usman .Under which Law of the Game is a quick restart permitted immediately after a goal, and under which Law was the resulting goal awarded?
