Reaction Time measures how quickly the driver responds to the green light.

Elapsed Time measures the entire run, from the start line to the finish line. It reflects how the driver and vehicle perform together, including the launch, traction, gear changes and acceleration.

Understanding the difference makes it much easier to appreciate what really happens between the lights and the finish line.
