NAGALAND GOVERNMENT HONOURS MERITORIOUS SPORTSPERSONS AND COACHES ON NATIONAL SPORTS DAY.

The Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland on Saturday 29th Aug.2026 organised the National Sports Day-cum-Cash Award Ceremony for Meritorious Sportspersons and Coaches 2026 at IG Stadium, Kohima, Nagaland recognising Athletes and Coaches who have excelled at national and international sporting events.

Shri. Anthony Ngullie, IAS, Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Youth Resources & Sports Department, attended as Special Guest.

The ceremony recognised sportspersons from Sepaktakraw, Taekwondo, Shooting, Athletics, Boxing, Archery, Badminton and Pencak Silat, with achievements recorded at various national and international competitions.

Among the recognised achievements were medals from the ISTAF Sepaktakraw World Cup, Khelo India Youth Games, Khelo India Beach Games, Khelo India Tribal Games, National School Games, National Championships, Asian Pencak Silat Championship and World Boxing Cup, among others.

The department also honoured coaches and officials, including Puleno Neikha for Sepaktakraw, Deep Kumar for Pencak Silat and Mechievilie, National Referee in Football.

Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi ji will address Khelo India Dialogue, Today. Nagaland Pencak Silat Sports icon Mr. Kevin will interacte with students of MGM College, Dimapur, about Khelo India initiatives.
