This morning, HVFA Executives had the privilege of meeting Kalon Palden Dhondup la, Home Minister of the Central Tibetan Administration.

During the meeting, Kalon Palden Dhondup la assured HVFA of his support and any possible assistance through the respective Tibetan settlements for the Himalayan Veteran Cup and future HVFA initiatives. He also expressed his willingness to send official correspondence to the concerned settlements regarding support and assistance to HVFA during the tournament.

The HVFA Executives extend their heartfelt gratitude to Kalon Palden Dhondup la for his warm welcome, valuable time, and encouraging words of support.

We deeply appreciate his kind gesture and look forward to his continued support for the success of the Himalayan Veteran Cup.

Following successful meetings with various organizations and government offices in Gangtok, the HVFA President, Vice President, Tournament Director, and an Executive Member returned to Dharamsala and joined the other HVFA Executives for the Association’s first Board Meeting.

During the meeting, the team briefed the Board in detail about their recent visit to Gangtok and the productive meetings held with various stakeholders.

The Board also discussed several important matters, including the tournament dates, distribution of responsibilities, and the opening and closing dates for team registration.

It was a productive and meaningful first Board Meeting, marking another important step forward in the preparation for the Himalayan Veteran Cup 2027.

Another Successful and Fruitful Day for HVFA

Today, the HVFA Executives had the privilege of meeting Mr. Pema Wangda la, Convenor, Indian Tibetan Coordination Office (ITCO), North Bengal and Sikkim, at his office.

The HVFA team briefed Pema la about the Himalayan Veteran Cup (HVC), scheduled to be held at Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, in June 2027. Pema la warmly welcomed the initiative and assured HVFA of all possible assistance towards the successful organization of this inaugural tournament.

The HVFA Board members also had the privilege of meeting Mrs. Rinzin Dolma la and the RTWA team, where we had a meaningful and productive interaction.

Following this, HVFA met with the members of Gangtok FC. The Gangtok FC team warmly welcomed the inaugural Himalayan Veteran Cup to Gangtok and assured their full cooperation and support. They also expressed their willingness to take responsibility for tournament hosting and volunteer coordination during the event.

With every meeting, we are building stronger partnerships and greater support for the Himalayan Veteran Cup.

HVFA Engages with Sikkim Sports Authorities

The Himalayan Veteran Football Association (HVFA) Executives had the privilege of meeting Honourable Shri Rinzing Wangyal Chophel, Chairperson of the State Sports Development Board, Government of Sikkim.

Following this, the HVFA team met with Ms. Yangchen Doma Tamang, Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim, and Dr. R. B. Bishwakarma, Director, Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim.

All the meetings were highly productive and fruitful. The HVFA team received very positive and encouraging responses from all the esteemed officials regarding the Association and its upcoming initiatives.

We sincerely appreciate their valuable time, encouragement, and support. These positive engagements have further strengthened our confidence as we move forward with our plans for the Himalayan Veteran Cup in Sikkim.

Tomorrow HVFA is meeting with 6 Tibetan Associations.

THE JOURNEY TO HIMALAYAN VETERAN CUP 2027 BEGINS

The executives of the Himalayan Veteran Football Association (HVFA) and the Tournament Director had the privilege of meeting Mr. Menla Ethenpa, Chairman of the Finance Committee, All India Football Association (AIFF) and President of Sikkim Football Association (SFA), Mr. Shyam Pradhan, Vice-President of SFA, Mr. Phurba Sherpa, General Secretary of SFA, Mr. Geden Lepcha and Mr. Arjun Rai, Senior Members of SFA to discuss the preparations for the inaugural Himalayan Veteran Cup.

Mr. Tenzing Tsephel la, President of HVFA briefed about the Himalayan Veteran Cup tournament and offered its constitution to SFA.

After that HVFA Executives met with Mr. Zimpa Phuntsok, Gangtok Settlement Officer. Zimpa la assured of all the possible assistance to HVFA during the tournament and preparation phase.

The tournament is scheduled to begin in June 2027 at the magnificent Paljor Stadium, Sikkim.

The whistle may be months away, but the work has already begun.

From ground preparations and infrastructure to logistics, coordination and countless details behind the scenes, there is a long road ahead. Every piece needs to come together to create a tournament worthy of the veterans who will step onto the field.

Paljor Stadium will not simply be a venue. It will be the stage where generations of Himalayan footballers come together once again, united by the game they have loved for decades.

The journey has begun.
The preparations continue.
And in June 2027, we will gather at Paljor Stadium.

Himalayan Veteran Football Association: Important Update

The Himalayan Veteran Football Association (HVFA) has now reached the final stage of its registration process. We are pleased to inform you that the required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been obtained from all concerned government offices.

The registration process for the Himalayan Veteran Cup (HVC) will officially open once HVFA’s official bank account is operational.

As part of our commitment to transparency, accountability and proper financial governance, HVFA has decided that all income and tournament-related receipts must be credited directly into the official HVFA bank account. No income will be collected through individual bank accounts or retained in cash.

This system will ensure that every financial transaction is properly recorded, documented and traceable, making the organization’s financial activities clear and transparent for our annual audit.

We believe that a transparent financial system is essential for building trust among players, teams, members, supporters and all our stakeholders.

WHY HIMALAYAN VETERAN CUP?

Football has no age limit.

The passion that brought us onto the football field in our youth does not disappear with age. Our speed may change, our recovery may take longer, but the love for the game remains.

The Himalayan Veteran Cup (HVC) is created with a simple vision: to give veteran footballers a meaningful platform to continue playing, competing, staying fit and, most importantly, enjoying the beautiful game.

But HVC is more than a football tournament.

It is about bringing veteran players and football communities from different regions together. It is about renewing old friendships, creating new ones and sharing the same passion beyond geographical boundaries.

It is also about respecting those who have kept football alive in their communities for decades.

At HVC, the result of a match will matter. The trophy will matter. The competition will matter.

But what will matter even more is the friendship after the final whistle, the respect between opponents and the memories we create together.

We believe that a veteran football tournament should not simply ask, “Who won?”

It should also ask:

“How many friendships did we create?”
“How many players were inspired to keep playing?”
“How much did we contribute to the football community?”

That is the spirit behind the Himalayan Veteran Cup 2027.

Eligibility and Age-Categories
The Himalayan Veteran Football Association hereby informs all participating teams that, for the Himalayan Veteran Cup, each team shall be permitted to register a maximum squad of 18 members.

The 18-member squad may comprise Players, a Coach and a Manager. The Coach and Manager may also be registered as players and are eligible to participate in matches, provided they meet all player eligibility requirements.
There shall be no restriction on the number of players a team may register from any particular age category. Teams shall have the discretion to form their 18-player squad according to their availability and team strategy.

However, during the match, each team shall maintain the following minimum age-category composition on the field at all times:

The given age-category requirement is intended to ensure meaningful participation of players from all generations of veteran footballers while allowing teams flexibility in forming their squads.

All participating teams are therefore advised to select and register their players accordingly and ensure that they are capable of maintaining the prescribed age-category composition throughout the match.

HIMALAYAN VETERAN CUP 2027 | THE CONSTITUTION

The Himalayan Veteran Football Association has a written Constitution governing the Himalayan Veteran Cup. Every aspect of the tournament will be conducted strictly in accordance with the Constitution.

There will be no room for individual convenience, arbitrary decisions, or practices outside the established rules. The same standards and regulations will apply to everyone.

A copy of the Constitution booklet will be provided to every participating team, allowing players, team officials, and representatives to refer to the rules and provisions of the tournament whenever required.

Today, we present Article 13: FINANCE and Article 15: SAFETY AND MEDICAL PROVISIONS, as set out in the HVC Constitution.

We believe that a well-structured tournament begins with clear rules, transparency, accountability, and the safety of every participant.

ARTICLE 13
FINANCE
Section 13.1 Sources of Revenue
Tournament funds may be generated through:
•⁠ ⁠Entry fees
•⁠ ⁠Sponsorship
•⁠ ⁠Donations
•⁠ ⁠Grants
•⁠ ⁠Fundraising activities
Section 13.2 Accountability
The Governing Body/Organizing Committee shall maintain accurate financial records and prepare annual statements of accounts, including a balance sheet in the prescribed manner, which shall be audited by a registered auditing firm for transparency and accountability.

ARTICLE 15
SAFETY AND MEDICAL PROVISIONS
Section 15.1 Medical Support
Adequate first-aid facilities and qualified medical personnel shall be available during matches.
Section 15.2 Emergency Response
The Organizing Committee shall establish emergency response procedures for all venues.
Section 15.3 Insurance
Teams and participants are encouraged to maintain appropriate medical and accident insurance coverage.
Section 15.4 Medical Assistance for Serious Injuries
If a player sustains a serious injury during an official tournament match or activity and requires hospitalization, the organizing committee may provide financial assistance toward the player’s medical expenses.
Subject to the verification of medical records, hospital bills and the availability of tournament funds, the Organizing Committee shall bear up to 50% of the eligible medical expenses incurred as a direct result of the injury.
The remaining expenses shall be the responsibility of the player, his family, personal insurance provider or his team.
The decision of the Organizing Committee regarding the extent of assistance provided shall be final.
