🌼 Obituary Message 🌼

It is with profound sadness that the Cambrian Hall Alumni Association mourns the passing of our fellow alumnus, Ashwini Kumar Singh (Class of 1974).

Ashwini was a proud Cambrianite who served as Doutre House Captain during his school days, where he was admired for his leadership, sportsmanship, and unwavering spirit. An accomplished boxer and cricketer representing Doutre House, he left an enduring impression on his classmates, teammates, and teachers alike.

Many of us had the pleasure of reconnecting with Ashwini at the Golden Jubilee Reunion of the Class of 1974 in December 2024 at Cambrian Hall Dehradun, where he warmly celebrated cherished memories with his batchmates and fellow alumni.

Those who knew Ashwini remember him not only for his sporting achievements but also for his steadfast loyalty, courage, and generous heart. As one of his lifelong friends beautifully recalled, “I will never forget how he stood up for me always.” His friendships, forged in the classrooms and playing fields of Cambrian Hall, endured for decades and remain a testament to the values he embodied.

On behalf of the Cambrian Hall Alumni Association, we extend our deepest condolences to Susan and the entire family during this difficult time. Ashwini will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by the Class of 1974 and the entire Cambrianite fraternity.

🏏 Two Days of Absolute Fun on the Field ⚽️

The two-day Cambrianites vs Josephites Alumni Sports Fest 2026 was nothing short of spectacular.

As the curtains came down on the event over the weekend, it was evident that the Sports Fest was a grand success, marked by enthusiastic participation, unwavering support, and unforgettable moments.

The festival provided a rare platform for the proud alumni of two iconic Dehradun schools to come together, and the reunion on the sports field was truly magical. The spirit of sportsmanship was on full display at Astro Sports throughout the two-day extravaganza.

The event had everything a sports lover could ask for. In cricket, the CHAA Junior Team lifted the trophy, while the SJA AA Senior Team emerged victorious in the senior category. Day 2 also witnessed a thrilling exhibition match that ended in a nail-biting tie between the two sides.

Football delivered its own share of drama, with CHAA producing a remarkable comeback from three goals down to secure an impressive 5–3 victory. The contest showcased the very best of competitive sport.

The resilience, determination, teamwork, and never-say-die attitude displayed by both alumni groups were truly inspiring. While victories are always cherished, what stood out even more was the sportsmanship, camaraderie, and mutual respect shown by players on and off the field.

The presentation ceremony was filled with smiles, laughter, and memories that will undoubtedly be cherished for years to come.

A special mention goes to the generous sponsors whose support played a vital role in making this event a resounding success.

More than just a competition, the Cambrianites vs Josephites Alumni Sports Fest 2026 celebrated friendship, tradition, and the enduring bonds that connect generations of alumni.

The Cambrian Hall Alumni Association community is delighted to welcome Mr. Ferdinand J. Bunyan as the new Principal of Cambrian Hall Dehradun.

With over 45 years of distinguished service in education, Mr. Bunyan’s journey into teaching began at St. Joseph’s School, Darjeeling. He subsequently joined The Frank Anthony Public School, Kolkatta for a couple of years before moving to The Frank Anthony Public School, Bangalore where he served for many years and grew significantly as an educator and administrator.

He later went on to serve for approximately eight years as Headmaster of The Bishop’s Co-Ed School, Kalyani Nagar, Pune one of the leading Anglo-Indian schools in the country.

Following his formal retirement, Mr. Bunyan accepted the Principalship of Christ Church School Mumbai. He also undertook a short stint as Chief Operating Officer at Royal Oaks World School Aurangabad.

Mr. Bunyan holds a B.Ed. and an M.A. in Literature, securing Fourth Rank from the University of Mysore. He has earned Category 1 Certification for the IB and CAIE curricula, served on the panel of inspectors for CISCE, and been an evaluator for ICSE English.

Throughout his career, he has consistently championed a balanced approach to education—emphasizing academic excellence, co-curricular development, and education as meaningful preparation for the future.

Having taught in and led some of the country’s most respected institutions, Mr. Bunyan brings to Cambrian Hall a wealth of experience, integrity, and visionary leadership.

The CH Alumni community warmly welcomes Mr. Ferdinand J. Bunyan and looks forward to a vibrant and inspiring new chapter under his stewardship.
