Today marks National Sports Day, and an opportunity to reflect on a larger question: what will it take to build Indiaโ€™s sporting future over the next two decades? ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

India has set an ambitious direction for sport , one that looks beyond medals to harness sport and physical activity for broader national development, while aspiring to position India among the worldโ€™s leading sporting nations by 2047.

Realising this ambition will require a strong and connected sporting ecosystem: expanding access to sports and physical activity (SAPA), creating clearer opportunities to participate, and building the systems that enable people and athletes to develop and perform over the long term.

GoSports Foundation and the SAPA Centre are working to strengthen this participation-to-podium continuum and the systems that enable it.

As India looks towards 2036 and 2047, we all have a role to play in building the sporting ecosystem of the future.

Move. Play. Perform. Excel.

A moment worth pausing for. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ

From the roar of the track to the quiet moments behind the scenes, every race tells a story of the work, belief and determination that goes into getting to this level.

For Mohammed Basil, Glasgow was a milestone. But beyond the medal, it was a glimpse of what lies ahead for one of Indiaโ€™s young para athletics talents.

And this is only the beginning. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Proud to be part of Basilโ€™s journey through the Para Champions Programme.

Bridging Minds & Metrics. Building better systems for athletes.

The Gear for Gold Conclave 2026 brought together coaches, administrators, sports science professionals and technology experts with a shared goal: to explore what stronger integration can look like in Indian sport.

Over two days, conversations turned into collaboration, perspectives were challenged, and real-world sporting scenarios became opportunities to learn, solve problems and build together!

From integrated teams and governance to sports science, data and technology, the Conclave was a reminder that high performance is built by bringing different minds to the same table. And at the centre of it all: The Athlete!

What does it mean to represent India?

It is the medal. The national anthem. The moments that make a nation proud.

But it is also everything that comes before it. The coaches, academies, sports science, partners and support systems that help athletes dream bigger, go further and represent India on the world stage.

This Independence Day, we celebrate the athletes shaping Indiaโ€™s sporting identity, and the changemakers powering them forward.

Hereโ€™s to the champions, and to everyone who helps build them.

Happy Independence Day!

Beyond the training sessions and competitions, this was a chance for athletes to simply be themselves!

As part of the UBHAR Programme, supported by Tata Trusts, athletes came together for an open conversation about the moments that shape them beyond sport. From sharing what they love most about competing to the hobbies, routines, and interests that help them recharge, the session created space for athletes to connect as people before competitors.

Because every athlete has a story beyond the game!

Every athlete's journey begins with the right foundation. ๐Ÿ’ก๐Ÿ…

Through the UBHAR Programme, supported by Tata Trusts, emerging athletes came together for the programme's first cohort workshop , a milestone that marked the beginning of their journey as UBHAR athletes and welcomed them into the larger GoSports athlete community.

The workshop provided an opportunity for athletes to connect with one another, understand the programme's vision and support ecosystem, and begin building relationships with their cohort. Through sessions on goal setting, sports science, injury prevention, strength & conditioning, mental conditioning, and nutrition, they gained the knowledge, perspective, and tools needed to navigate the demands of high-performance sport.

Because developing champions means investing in character, growth, and potential, thereby going beyond just performance.
